Minnesota dealer sues Harley-Davidson Powersports Business Friday November 18, 2011 St. Paul Harley-Davidson in St. Paul, Minn., has filed a lawsuit against Harley-Davidson claiming that new restrictions Harley is enforcing on international and third-party sales are hindering dealers' profits. In the suit filed Nov. 1 in United States District Court, St. Paul Harley-Davidson said that as of Aug. 1, U.S. dealers have not been able to sell PG&A to any customers outside of the country, and beginning Jan. 1, they cannot sell any new PG&A on third-party websites, such as eBay and Amazon, according to a report by Reuters. Those sales brought in $8 million in revenue per year for the dealership. "These changes would deprive (St. Paul Harley-Davidson) of literally millions of dollars of annual revenues, thereby jeopardizing its ability to remain in business," the dealer said in the lawsuit. A Harley-Davidson spokeswoman contacted by Reuters refused to comment on the lawsuit's specifics, saying simply, "We disagree with the dealer's premise." |

I've dealt with them in person and on ebay, great group of people who really support Buell. I say good for them, hope they win. |

Is that overcast above the HD corporate sign or is that a black cloud of vultures in the distance... I sure hope Wandell plays golf better than he runs a motorcycle industry company. I feel bad for the dealers. There's some really good ones out there. |

I would say that move is coming from other dealers bending Wandell's ear about St.Paul getting into their pocket. Why shop at your local dealer when you can order on line. Get it cheaper, pay no tax and save the gas driving to you local dealer. |

Does anyone have the list of restrictions placed on the dealers? I have done business with St Paul HD. A+ |

Dunno why they're worried...most of their Core Market is too old to use a computer anyway. |

I don't know that HD will "pit" dealer against dealer per se... I just doubt they'll discourage it, either. |

I expect most of you know about the "Big Bang" theory of how the universe was created, well this is the "Big meh" as HD slowly implodes. The Chinese chrome industry is crapping bricks I expect. |

Maybe the mothership should just encourage the other dealers to follow St. Paul's lead and do a better job selling their products. |

I've purchased several Buell parts from St. Paul HD via Ebay. Great service, smart salesmanship and isn't that the point? |
