I played around with one at the Version store. Very fast and lightweight, but kinda pricey. I'll wait till they drop the pricing. I can get a Droid Bionic through work for $119 with a two year contract.
Front is Gorilla Glass and back is Kevlar. Very thin.
they need to incorporate that gorilla glass into soooo much other stuff. someone is dropping the ball. ive got that on my mesmerize, not a single scratch yet and its slid down the pavement and gravel on its face multiple times.
could have used it on my flat screen the other day when jenn caught it with a curtain rod...
Gorilla Glass is expensive. I read that a screen for the Razor costs Motorola $21 where the glass that is on my DroidX is less than $2. Imagine how much a 42" screen would cost!!!
When my 8 year old dropped her 4th gen iPod touch last week from about 18 inches and it shattered completely, I couldn't help thinking what a piece of shit iProducts are.
My original Droid has taken a header from over 12 feet straight to the concrete... and I've dropped it out of my van to the pavement several times... it has a tiny mark on the corner of the metal case. The glass is perfect.
Nothing has really grabbed my attention since ive had the first droidx but the razr looks cool on paper. Still wish they could match the great photo and video of the iphone but they are still pretty good.
I couldn't help thinking what a piece of shit iProducts are.
When I dropped my iPhone 4 out of an airplane (on the ground) it came out unscathed. When I was on a stationary bike and I snagged the headphone cord with my hand and sent it flying into a steel support column before hitting the ground it came out just as well.
My don doped his iPod about a foot onto its corner and it shattered with a rubber cover no less. My DroidX has been thrown on the ground numerous times. There are chips out of the aluminum case but screen is holding up great.
Yeah, I wasn't intending to start a Droid vs Apple war at all.... it's just that I've seen literally hundreds of broken iPhones and iPods, and never seen a broken Droid.
The whole crappy experience at the iStore and waiting forever for an appointment to replace a damned music player got me frustrated... especially when the "geniuses" couldn't transfer anything from the old unit to the new one... FAIL
My Xoom tablet has gorilla glass, it shattered from a waist high fall even while in a leather case. The screen protector is the only thing holding it together.

Pros and cons to screen material. Hard gorilla glass might withstand scratches better than conventional screens but not withstand blunt impact like conventional softer screens. Theres a tradeoff with everything.

I rather have plastic and a screen protector. Beat the hell out of it for a year, pull it off and put another one on.
The aluminum case on the Xoom is just as bad with damage, mine has chips and dings, vs my all plastic HP Touchpad will literally bounce off the floor unharmed.

Plastic with a hard coating like good quality helmet face-shields would seem ideal. The heft of the glass does add a nice feel to the phone, but lighter can't be bad either. The iPhone reportedly originally had a plastic screen, but was changed to glass at the last minute per Steve Jobs.

Blake - Not sure if a plastic screen would require the use of a resistive digitizer instead of the iPhone's (and other glass-screened devices) capacitive screen. If that's the case, I'd say Jobs made the right call as the resistive screen don't look as nice, don't feel as nice, don't work as nice and just have a dated feel about them. Durable? Sure. A pleasure to use? Not so much.

dropped my droid tonight from waist high. I was pissed, thought it was in my pocket far enough. No scratches on screen, the case front popped off and skinned the metal a little.
oh well, maybe in another month or so ill have a new phone....
I appreciate everyones opinions on the razor phone
Talking about dropping phones, have you noticed how their prices are dropping? By the time Black Friday arrives, they will be giving away some nice 4G LTE Smartphones with a two year contract.
