The rapist in the NY protest should take a pointer from the whitehouse and start protesting rape and lend his support to his victim.

Riots? Where are you hearing about riots in Oakland? The vast majority of the protesting has been peaceful, with the usual few idiots throwing rocks at riot gear equipped police.

This is the only bit of the article that shows anything that's less than 100% peaceful, but it sure doesn't sound like a riot like you claim.

quote:

Demonstrators managed to gain entry to an empty building that had housed the Traveler's Aid Society, a nonprofit that assists the homeless but had suffered funding cuts. Leaflets indicated that protesters had targeted the building for "reuse." They branded it a new "community center" in Twitter feeds. Video from an ABC helicopter showed jubilant crowds flowing in and out of the building, where a banner marked "Occupy Everything" hung. Others built a barricade nearby, presumably to discourage police.
Shortly before midnight, local media reported that police officers from surrounding agencies were suiting up in riot gear. Some demonstrators lit the barricade aflame. Firefighters doused it. A police statement later said protesters had hurled rocks, explosives, bottles and flaming objects at officers.

I've read from people that are in Oakland that the police have be attacking the non-violent protesters and some homeless bystanders. There are people reporting some of the cops have their badges covered up to prevent being identified.

Local governments are increasingly getting fed up with this nonsense and will take action. Happened in San Diego last weekend. Oakland is an exception because the mayor lost her nerve. Bloomberg knows a backlash is growing and will politically bend accordingly. Paradoxically, Governor Brown in Cali would call in the National Guard in the event that the riots and anarchy spreads.

No, there will be not be a declaration of marshal law. Don't see it.

Americans are slowly, silently learning that Tea (with a pinch of sugar) doesn't taste so bad after all.

Starting a bonfire on a city street and throwing weapons at the police constitute a riot. This isn't a Yankees victory celebration.

Oakland is a special place in Baghdad By The Bay. My sister-in-law lives there and is most likely participating. She has refused to work for the past ten years, refuses to pay rent and her bills. She spends most of her time chanting for money. She has LOTS of friends. I am not surprised that Oakland is becoming a flashpoint.

That's not as uncommon as you think. I know some agencies local to the Sacramento area that do the same thing during a riot.

Riots? Where are you hearing about riots in Oakland?

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/riot-gear-and-bonf ires-occupy-oakland-degenerates-into-chaos-overnig ht/

quote:

The confrontation began after protesters started a large bonfire in the middle of a downtown street. Dozens of police in riot gear moved in on hundreds of protesters as the flames leapt more than 15 feet in the air from several large metal and plastic trash bins that had been pushed together.

Police warned protesters to clear out before firing several rounds of tear gas and “flash bang” grenades to clear the area.

In the aftermath of the police actions, protesters with cloth wrapped around their faces to protect them from the stench of the gas marched through the area chanting, “Whose streets? Our streets.”

Some marchers wore gas masks.

Glass covered streets and sidewalks from windows of area businesses that were shattered.

Graffiti on the wall next to one of the damaged shops read, “This act of vandalism was not authorized by the general assembly. Peaceful protest.”

That is classic! Oh yeah, the Tea Party will be accused by the apologetti of splattering the graffiti to discredit this bowel movement. Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey.

Obama's Beagle Street Boyz are getting increasingly restless.

I only see it if BO loses the election. In that event I could see a behind the scenes push (using local governments like Oakland) to encourage lawlessness, while at the same time cracking down on them with marshal law. They don't call them useful idiots without reason.

Trying to take it all in context, I think the person(s) who spray painted that really wanted to send the message that this sort of violent rioting isn't what they are trying to promote in their movement. Unfortunately they resort to defacing property to try to get that message out. When you are that stupid your movement is bound to be full of chaos. This was all very predictable. It will get worse.

You'll eventually get it because you look with open eyes.

A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home. Next to her was a basket containing a number of tiny creatures; in her hand was a sign announcing FREE KITTENS.

Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled up beside her. Out of the lead car stepped a tall, grinning man.

"Hi there little girl, I'm President Obama. What do you have in the basket?" he asked.

"Kittens," little Suzy said.

"How old are they?" asked Obama.

Suzy replied, "They're so young, their eyes aren't even open yet."

"And what kind of kittens are they?"

"Democrats," answered Suzy with a smile.

Obama was delighted. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told him about the
little girl and the kittens.

Recognizing the perfect photo op, the two men agreed that the president should return the next day; and in front of the assembled media, have the girl talk about her discerning kittens.

So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk with her basket of "FREE KITTENS," when another motorcade pulled up, this time followed by vans from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.

Cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up, then Obama got out of his limo and walked over to little Suzy.

"Hello, again," he said, "I'd love it if you would tell all my friends out there what kind of kittens you're giving away."

"Yes sir," Suzy said. "They're Republicans."

Taken by surprise, the president stammered, "But...but...yesterday, you told me they were DEMOCRATS."

Little Suzy smiled and said, "I know. But today, they have their eyes open."

OWS style of democracy is bound to fail as the only logical conclusion is Stalinism. SuperDave is (was) a prime example. He stated that he would do something if the group permitted it. This lack of leadership thinking leads to intermediate mob mentality. These folks are training themselves not to stand up as an individual and will defer to the group. Eventually, a dictator will arise to control the group and quash any opposing viewpoints. Say tata to democracy. Are you listening Egypt and Hamas?

OWS is doomed to failure from the beginning.

Yeah i agree some of these people are stupid punks. The movement has good goals but no plan on how to achieve them. It will not work peacefully so eventually it will turn to violence. Hopefully it stops before then or bonfires in the street will be the least of our concerns.

MACDIS - Military Action Against Civil Disturbance.
We do indeed train for it.
We do indeed have rules of engagement for it.
And we have a history of using the tactics effectively overseas.
And Live fire is not off the list of escalating options.
If it goes hot - best not be in the vicinity, best not be caught on camera - cuz the old unit is very crafty at finding you, and very 'unnice' when need be.
Your first worry is the MP Units; your bigger worry is the Intel units.
When we rolled into town - the game was over.
Surveillance, Arrests, Detentions, Exile, Enhanced Questioning Tactics - and that is just the open source that I will admit to.

remember we trained in Bosnia - dead bodies stacked upon one another is NOTHING new.

I think it's gr8t that these activists are doing what they can to help the 99%. I mean, look above, they helped 21 people avoid work by causing a 30% reduction in sales since they started.

Their rioting also shut down the port in Oakland, http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=47298. Good thinking guys!
