OK all- Halloween is generally my favorite holiday, been trying to update what has become my regular costume... "The Bug."
I've had the same mask for over 20 years, haven't found anything NEAR as creepy EVAAR, and have just grown fond of it. Locally there are several folks who actually recognize me, but the overall effect is not dampened.
I've come up with at least 2 ideas to update The Bug: One, which I'm confident to handle, is to set things up with LED's- a couple of years ago I found and bought a giant, 3' long cockroach that rides my shoulders "piggyback", and I believe I can wire it up with the lights.
The second, which I'm looking into, is some way to carry a fair amount of dry ice on my person for a spooky mist effect. I realize there is some hazard to this- if anyone has a good idea, I may head to Kroger and pick up some...
Ideas? Also, feel free to post cool, spooky pics... let's see if we can get some new shots of pumpkins besides the ones from yesteryear... maybe some punkin' chunkin' footage!
Hahaaa- I'll see what I can do, Mark! It's about time I learn to post pics here.
Yeah, the cockroach was a golden find- I use its first 2 legs to wrap around my neck and hold in place, then the other 2 pair stick out and brush against people as I walk through a crowd... the mask's eyes glow green with a 9v battery, full head coverage- but, my entire lower lip/jaw is free! I can drink beer with the mask on!
Heck, it looks almost as funky ON TOP of my head as over it!
Gots me a White Zombie torn-up Tshirt to go with it. Once upon a time, on Halloween, worked that night bartending, no pants, just some camoflage underwear! Mighty comfy!
Plus- just quit a job last weekend, so I'm growing a REALLY scruffy looking "beard"...
My wife and i host a party every year and i always put alot of thought into our costumes. This year i'm going all out and made myself a Destroyer era Gene Simmons costume... I'll get some pics up this weekend!
Gotta bump this thread?! Heck, all youns surely have some good input on things spooky...
Specifically, does anyone have experience/tips on handling dry ice, hopefully with a safe way to incorporate it into a costume?
Also- I forgot to mention in the OP that folks should feel free to post their best Halloween pranks too- HW and April Fool's are our designated days for those...
C'mon! You'd think with all the zombie thread responses we'd be getting stoked for this weekend...
I should be more ambitious, seeing as I live just on the outskirts of the Halloween Capital of the World (Anoka, MN). But I just finished up my part of the remodel job (mudding and painting the bathroom walls and ceiling (they had 3 layers of wall paper on the walls and one covering the entire ceiling, jeez)) and finally get to work on the blue S2. I pulled the carb tonight and found a nice layer of varnish. Luckily, I planned for such a scenario and have new seals and cables and a shiny billet backing plate from American Sport Bike. So I will be drinkin' beer and wrenching with the curtains pulled so that the kiddies give me some much needed Buell time.
Well, as it turns out, Friday evening the GF and I both were attacked by a upper respiratory/throat bug, and generally spent the day yesterday trying to take it easy... didn't do a dang thing last nite besides stare at the boob tube!
No fun getting into zombie mode when every time you cough, it feels like a tonsil is ripping out... hate that I wasted 10 days growing a real scruffy bunch of facial hair...
Still, if all youn's like minded and healthy goons can post stories/pics/vids, we can still have some fun vicariously! I'll be working on a pumpkin later today...
I went to a party last night but didn't have the guts to wear my Faires wear boots costume.
A very nice Strawberry Shortcake....Yummy!
Unfortunately, I wore my dune hat, shorts and a sweatshirt, some tall blonde honey came up to me during the party and asked me what my costume was, I told her I came as her dad and I was taking her home.
