to all those who have served out great country. I had the great pleasure of spending a couple of hours with several veterans of different eras, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their stories about boot camp, the Pacific Theater, Germany, the Bikini Atolls, the Delta and much more. They all said the same thing...."I just did what anybody would do." Great men. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend taking the time to talk to people like this. They had me in tears of laughter and sadness. Great men.  | ||

When my good friend Ed was being consumed by mesothelioma, I used to go in there at the VA Hospital in Long Beach CA and just sit with him to watch a DVD or I'd read him the paper. There was another guy in his room, so I'd angle their beds so they could see and hear, and just read stories and hang out and listen to the tales of their war experiences. They were so grateful, but it was me that should be grateful for the chance to give back even just a little bit for these men who sacrificed EVERYTHING so that I could live in this great country. I'd bet you can walk into any VA hospital and make somebody's day better with a simple gesture. | ||

My Dad passed away in a VA hospice & I was touched by the staff's love & care they passed on to the patients.I think of those people often and KNOW they made a difference in my Dad's last days. |
