Met some friends last night, and on the way home managed to get hit by a deer. And yes, I meant to type "get hit BY a deer". One second I'm driving along, next second I have a lap full of broken drivers window. Ran right smack into my door as I went down the highway at 60 mph. Glad I was in my $400 POS Cherokee with 230k miles. Initially I had wanted to take my "baby" - my 74k mile 91 Daytona Competition Package turbo that I bought brand new in '91. Glad I was too lazy to put gas in the ol' girl before I left! Crazy Ray's...here I come. (I do love me some u-pull-it junkyard visits!) |

I've have been tempted to run over and kick the dear in the face. I only like them as jerky, in stew, as sausage, steaks, etc. On the hoof, they are a nuisance. |

Hey Joe- you didn't mention if you took the opportunity to stock your freezer with some fresh venison...

If you were on your Buell the deer would have mist you because you would been farther down the road. From the front of the Cherokee to you is what 6 ft. + Buell less than 6 ft. long on the Buell you would been going faster anyway. Glad your are ok. Did you keep the deer so we could have a party? |

Must have been a real 'I'm awake now!' moment. I had a doe change her mind and run back into the side of my car once. She stopped just in time so her head rubbed from front fender to rear. She looked at me as she left the snot trail across my window. Stop by the house if you come down to Crazy Rays. |

Well, I feel like a walking Foxworthy punchline... "if a great day is a Sunday in the junkyard, getting parts for the truck you wrecked the night before...you might be a redneck" Super-ghetto-Jeep, on the way - white jeep, red fender, green door, white nose. woo-HOO!!! Nah, didn't stop to kick the deer. Totally dark stretch of road, didn't feel like becoming a target for another driver. Kept going till I hit town, pulled off in a McD's parking lot under the lights to assess the damage. |

Bad Deer! Bad Bad Deer! How many times do I have to tell you....STOP PLAYING IN THE ROAD!~ They are such a danger, I am proponent of poaching, from the car, in the old days, you used to have to drive way out in the woods to see a deer at night, now everybody is a Dudley DooRight and what do you get for it? Deer knocking on your front door asking for a snack! If you shoot at them along the road, it will drive them back out in the woods where they belong. And no, we are not invading their natural habitat, humans laid the road, it's our playground...Deer, STAY OFF! |

While riding the S1 on forested back roads yesterday afternoon had a deer come at me from the opposite side of the road at a slight converging angle. I was doing about 70. Had to speed up and move a bit to my right to miss her as she passed about a foot behind me. It was as if she was aiming for me. Kinda fun in a way but thanks RT for the extra juice in that bike. Careful folks, I hadn't really thought about it yet but the deer are on the move with the cooler weather, even here in Texas. |

See, I don't even fault the deer. Like most cagers...they're just big dumb animals that don't understand the rules of the road LOL.

Glad you're ok. I hate ditch rats!! I've never hit a deer, but like you, had one hit me. This dumb deer tried to jump over my Suburban...he/she missed. Blew out the back seat window in the Suburban covering 3 children in glass. Thankfully none of the children were cut. I think hunting season should be open all year to help cut down on their population. |

Glad I was too lazy to put gas in the ol' girl before I left! Too many things like that have happened to me to chalk it up to coincidence. Somebody was looking out for you, dude! |
