Very true. I was just pointing out a point. I should have been more clear.

My apologies

I said he would be trolling "from this point on" as I will have nothing to do with a gentleman who "hates all cops" and advocates anarchy by rooting people to take action "by any means necessary".

I could care less if this gentleman continues to spew at you guys. I won't have anything to do with such an ignorant and hateful person.

Capiche, Andy?

Corporations do pay income taxes, if they earn enough income and can't find loopholes to avoid it. Products and services sell at the maximum price that the market will bear.

Note the disdain for god, the Bible, and Christianity constantly spewed forth by the man, maybe you'd get it. His ignorance and hate is reprehensible; Solomon accurately characterized such people entirely closed to thoughtful reproach as "self confident fools."

I don't know where anyone here can be seen to be casting stones (aiming to kill someone). Most appropriate would be Jesus' admonition to turn the other cheek.

To clarify...

Casting a stone = aiming to kill

"Let he without sin cast the first stone" (condemn one to death for a sin, specifically one falling short of murder)

Slap in the face = insult

"Turn and offer the other cheek." (Let not mere insult compel violent conflict, choose grace instead.)

I would love to see that happen but ...

Gen John Allen stated 'indefinitely' in Afghanistan (2024 be estimate) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8YAKkQHnIA

Iraq only or...? What about the rest of the middle east? Saudi etc?

Obama is nobody's hero, not doing great in the polls and elections are coming up. A last minute change to gain voters?

Don't get me wrong, I want everybody out of there yesterday, just doesn't seem possible. I hope I'm incorrect....

* Get what?

His ignorance and hate is reprehensible;

* Ignorance? What have I stated in this thread that wasn't correct or at least arguable?

* Hate? don't like cops and organized religion(not really relevant in this thread but I'll include it to be fair)... So what else do I hate... Oh wait I do hate broccoli too or do we need to get to that level of detail?

Solomon accurately characterized such people entirely closed to thoughtful reproach as "self confident fools."

* Closed? I've asked for folks to state why they have certain opinions many times. hmm...

Can we keep skydaddy junk out of this one pleeeeze? I won't comment on it if you don't bring it up every other post. : )

This is more important than trivial religious debate, this movement is about helping this country and ensuring its future.

Oh I understand, and agree, like the war it didn't start in an instant and won't end in one either...

Does anybody have direct family in country that could add detail to this? He seems to infer in his address that the troop withdrawl has been going on for a little while.

I couldn't tell you the number of times our unit was told we were going home during the Gulf War, and then told we weren't.

Should a member of a union be precluded from making any kind of political contributions? How is that not "corporate" influence?

I am for fair taxation, not confiscation of someone's personal property.

I think that's a big difference. If you ask me to pay a portion of my income as tax that is one thing but if you want to come take all my saving that's another and that is not what the movement is about.

That's how I would see it, maybe I don't follow your comment correctly?

But what is the difference?

When the top 10% pay 70% of the taxes and the bottom 47% pay 0% of the taxes, how is this "fair"?

How is this NOT confiscation?

In order to pay the current Federal budget, the IRS would need to tax (confiscate) 49% of every dollar earned of every taxpayer in the top 50%.

What percentage of income paid in taxes would you estimate to be "fair"?

I'm and advocate of Cain's 9, 9, 9 Plan. THIS would be fair. It would also remove most of the special interest power from the tax code.

100% of their working time, just like the rest of us that pay taxes.

"Tax Freedom Day® will arrive on April 12 this year, the 102nd day of 2011. That means Americans will work well over three months of the year, from January 1 to April 12, before they have earned enough money to pay this year's tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels.

Tax Freedom Day arrives three day later in 2011 than it did in 2010, but nearly two weeks earlier than in 2007. This shift toward a lower tax burden since 2007 has been driven by three factors:

• The Great Recession has reduced tax collections even faster than it has reduced income.

• President Obama and the Congress, after a long debate, extended the Bush-era tax cuts for two additional years.

• As part of the extension agreement, the Making Work Pay tax credit was replaced with the 2 percent reduction in the payroll tax.

Despite these tax reductions, Americans will pay more in taxes in 2011 than they will spend on groceries, clothing and shelter combined."

That is, the Americans that actually pay a net tax. If they get credits, subsidies, foods stamps, etc., their day is back in the previous year...

A scoffer seeks Wisdom in vain [for his very attitude blinds and deafens him to it], but knowledge is easy to him who [being teachable] understands.

King Solomon

scoff: to speak to someone or about something in a scornfully derisive or mocking way

Examples of scoffing:

Referring to the Bible as a "silly book."

Referring to god as "your skydaddy."

Example of self confident foolishness:

Threatening the owner of the web forum to avoid mentioning anything of god or the Bible else more such scoffing shall ensue.

Dave, you and your scoffing of god and the Bible, and your hate and condoning of violence against fellow Americans are not welcome here any more. Please take your leave of this Buell Enthusuasts' forum. Repeat, you are no longer welcome to participate in discussions here.

You're right but what percentage of their salaries are they paying to make that number?

Based upon AGI:

Top 1% 23.27%
Top 5% 20.70%
Top 10% 18.71%
Top 25% 15.68%
Top 50% 13.65%
Bottom 50% 2.59%
Bottom 47% 0.00%

Total AGI of the top 50%: $7.352T

Federal Budget: $3.6T

Tax rate required to cover the budget: 48.97% (of EVERY dollar of AGI)

Marginal rates would have to be MUCH higher in order to achieve 49%. Assuming rough approximations, the marginal tax rates would have to roughly DOUBLE across the board to achieve the 49%.

This would put the top marginal tax rate at approximately 70%.

Sales tax works for Texas. Why not for the federal gov't?!? Too darn simple! Lay off a bunch of IRS folks!

Cut the budget!

WTF?!? We have the fed govt granting business loans to specific corporate startups???!!! UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

This should be impeachable! Not to mention Solyndra, illegal gun running to Mexican drug cartels, funding abortion with taxpayer money, the gov't health care mandate, etc...

I thought superdave was asking nicely. Were was the threat?. So much for turn the other cheek? You know his feelings about religion yet you answer his posts with God and the like, which is your right, but he was asking nicely. It might look to some that you were trolling, ya know, maybe you had an agenda to boot him off. That wouldn't be quite honest now would it?

AFAT topic. I agree with Blake about corporations paying taxes minus the tax loopoles. I took advantage of them when I owned my own corp. But I think that is what the protesters are up in arms about..... YMMV.

I often hear the question what would be a fair top tax rate. It's a tough question to answer. Oddly there's a question that I have NEVER heard asked. I guess I'll throw it out there and see if we can get a reasonable answer...

What is a fair percentage of the population to not contribute to the welfare of our nation?
