I was thinking about donning a do-rag and "blending" . . .

"Whatawewant???"

"FRIES"

Just went by and the rain has thinned the crowd . . all of about 4 NYPD cars . . . I ended up taking pics of chicks instead.

Hopefully, the ladies freed themselves from the bondage of their haltertops.

I used to enjoy the first San Francisco Gay Parades when lipstick lesbians marched topless. Nothing quite like political action properly deployed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGoDa1Usq6A&feature =related

here don't listen to me then, listen to George Carlin...

(BTW those signs said TAX the rich, not take things from them unlawfully...)

Here are their demands from one site;

Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants."

http://occupywallst.org/

And regarding the odd/offensive signs, this is a leaderless movement decidedly so anyone can make any sign they want, like that antisemitic guy... the media loved showing him off on TV BUT they did NOT show the normal guy with a sign standing two feet from him that read ' ->' pointing to that one guy. With any crowd you'll get idiots and this isn't an exception BUT it is NOT as portrayed by TV.

Watch ANY non US media and you'll quickly start hearing other stories and maybe your viewpoint will start to sway a tad.

How much time have any of you spent actually researching what is actually going on or have you just listened to talk radio and bill oreilly (known liar)? If that's all you've done to form your viewpoint you're woefully misinformed.

DID YOU NOT FORGET THAT THE BANKS F*CK UP IS WHAT LED TO BUELL CLOSING AND THE REST OF THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN? You would think of all the people on the web that Buell owners, who were directly affected by those events, can't see the problem and why these protests are occurring.

Regarding 'paid protesters'

http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/gov/2618821815.h tml

I assume you mean that? If so you'll notice it's a political action group with some history. It doesn't appear to be a fringe nutbag hire anybody outfit, it looks like they are searching for advocates, not idiots which is what I believe was inferred.

However, point taken, I could see how that could be considered a 'profession' but not solely a 'professional protester' as it appears they do a lot more than demonstrate.

http://www.workingfamiliesparty.org/

I don't know much about that outfit but it's a NY based outfit which does NOT explain the protesters in the large number of cities (including DC) that are being occupied in protest.

So while the professional protester may exist in a weak definition they don't come into play in this as it goes beyond NY imho.

I had a hard time watching that video but the funniest part was when some dunce who I assume was talking about Bloomberg said "We may not have 4.6 billion, but we pay his salary".
Really? Aside from the sales tax they paid on their cinnamon skinny lattes, just what are they talking about?
If their parents would have knocked some sense into these people when they were kids they wouldn't be making a public nuisance of themselves right now.
I'm sorry Dave but I can't join in your outrage. Nothing personal, I just see things differently. If you want to add some 60's authenticity to your reports, start calling the cops "pigs".

Superdavetfft...

No offense, but you're on the outside looking in buddy. In case you don't know who I am, I'm the resident ex-convict here on the BadWeB.

Nobody here, and I mean NOBODY, is qualified like I am to comment on police "brutality", having been subject to it myself inside the California Department of Corrections. I've seen first hand that SOME cops are complete jerks, but for the MOST part, they're just people like you and me... doing their job.

You pick and choose little video snippets from the comfort of your own home and point to it as "proof" of something that fits your agenda.

Yes, the press can film pretty much anywhere they want. Just like the cops, who are people doing a job, can flash strobe lights anywhere they want.

What is your point? How about you go out and occupy something, so you can see first hand, like I have, that cops are PEOPLE... sure some of them behave badly, but which of us doesn't?

The bums in the park here in Atlanta are pretty much displacing the actual homeless people who live there every day... anybody ever considered that angle? Why aren't we seeing these occupiers helping the indigenous persons of the area? They sure do have a lot of money floating around with their $200 tents and designer clothes, iMacs, iPhones and laminated signs.

Dave, again, should a member of a union be prohibited from contributing to a political campaign?

Do you even understand the rules for corporations making political contributions?

You might as well be arguing that we should be eliminating gasoline in favor of cars that run on unicorn farts. You are simplifying things to the point that they are meaningless.

The downturn in the market affected all business but played little part in the closing down of Buell.

In case you missed it:

http://www.nhi.org/online/issues/125/goingsubprime .html

The banks were part of the problem but the involvement of the Federal government was the biggest contributor to this mess.

Thought you'd like to be "informed".

Double negative aside, no I didn't forget something that isn't true because I never knew it. I know that you believe it is true.

The fault for the housing bubble rests squarely on the shoulders of the federal government. The banks followed the rules the government created. You want to point fingers, point them at the community reinvestment act and FM/FM.

One question, (watch the video please)... if the police have nothing to hide and they are operating according to the law why would they need to hinder recordings? hmm.... I wonder...

I don't see anything that stopped any recording at all. Strobes are used because they give you an advantage over those with a strobe in their face because it tends to be a bit disorientating. Pretty common tactic for home defense too.

The examples of people hired to protest are just a sampling. I literally did a search and chose the first few that came up. It's a known tactic that unions have been using in recent years.

Do you really think that comparing themselves to an overthrow of the government in Egypt is a smart move on their part? Have you seen what's going on there lately?

It's funny that you shame people for being supportive of the actions of the police. They are simply responding to what is in front of them. I can't believe that you would support the actions of the Flea Party.

This is police brutality:

Getting a little pepper spray or a strobe in the face isn't.

They have permits to demonstrate in certain places. In other places, they are asked to leave. If they resist, they get "stronger persuasion".

How many NYC protesters have been killed so far?

I know many of these people want to think they are "leaders", but this was predicted long ago. When the protests were happening in Greece quite a while back it was pointed out that we are close behind them on the same track.

Of course the liberals denied that this would happen in the US. Oddly, now they want to be proud of it. Liberal rationalization fascinates me.

Superdave, try the local SEIU branch, Acorn ( or whatever name they changed to in your local to try and hide being criminals ) , and the social media sites for the neo-nazis, The CPUSA, Media Matters, and my fav, MoveOn.org. A group founded by a leftist to tell people to stop picking on Clinton, and is now a leading propaganda group for the Communists. Funded by a jillionaire I hear. Some Soros guy.

Like I said, The message of the "good" protesters is lost in the "media".

All I see on TV ( and I don't watch much, since I KNOW it's crap ) is useful idiots and extreme leftists. I agree there may be a smart fellow in there with some good ideas and a mad on for the eeeevil bankers.... with good reason. Pity.

Don't throw shit at an armed man.
Dont stand next to an idiot throwing shit at an armed man.
Don't fire a laser at a mirror.

In most other countries a group that confronts police like some of these bozo's do, would be stacked in a morgue. Next to the nice kid who just wanted freedom, or to get laid. ( lots are there for that ) In fact, often the guy who starts the crap gets out before the bullets fly, and it's always some poor mother's kid left lying in a pool of blood.

I'm not defending any cases of real abuse by police. It does happen, and the cops should do time. Period. When people in a position of authority think the rules don't apply to them, it is BAD.

Which brings us to a Sec Tres who cheats on taxes, multiple congresscritters ditto, and "constitutional scholars" that do unconstitutional things when in power.
That latter, btw, has made speeches that sound very much like a central European powers leader back in the late '30's. Lots of stuff about "fatcat" bankers.

I'm sure there are not a lot of antisemitics in the "occupier" movement. I know there are enough. I read the signs. I know enough history to not like them.

People who preach hate and envy are evil. Period.
