Lots of travel over the next couple of months and thought it might be interesting to meet some fellow Buellers during the trips. First stop is Angouleme this Thursday with Paris Friday/Saturday. PM me if you'd like to get together and talk motorcycles over coffee or drinks. |

Do you speak French, or can you read/write in French? There is a pretty strong Buell presence in France, and they have a web group, used to be called "Forum Buell Passion" but has moved: http://buell.actifforum.com/ If I am not mistaken, Mr. Grumpy has moved from Brittany to hilly/mountainous western France. Facebook page of the (former) Buell dealership in Paris. I guess they still have a group of sorts: http://www.facebook.com/people/Buell-Paris-Ats/100 000413821300 |

Thanks very much Fahren. My French is pretty lousy but I'll be with folks from France so we'll be OK and will try to make some contacts. Thanks again for the leads. |

Well, there's always some of us who are in Germany. About 4 hours from Paris. |

Mr. Grumpy's near the Swiss border. He'd be a good English-speaking Bueller to look up, if he isn't busy schlepping heavy objects about the Eurozone. |

Just got back from Paris, saw one Buell in a week and a half. Guess that means they're there but are hard to spot. Most people in the city use scooters of some sort, easier to fit between the cars and buses. |

The french also have very strict noise regs in urban areas. Db regs are different overall. Lots of veeeeeery quiet bikes over there. |

German's while picky on noise aren't nearly as strict as the French. Though, if you are going to be in France and want to take a trip over to boarder to Germany, I'm in Kaiserslautern. |

I'm in Angouleme right now but went through Paris this morning and must have seen 60 gazillion bikes of all types but sadly no Buells. Talk about lane splitting! Cataract, do not have the time on this trip to get to Germany but will be in the Bielefeld area later this year. Hope we can hook up then. |

In Paris you see a ton of big scooters - probably tax/gas price/license related, for the reason. You also see a lot of those scooters with 2 front wheels - can't remember the name/mfgr. People park their bikes and scooters just about anywhere in French cities - all over the sidewalks! I'm sure that, plus the lane splitting, helps ease congestion a lot. |

That's the Piaggio MP3, couple of engine options, pretty cool as they can lean the front wheels. You also notice that most bikes have a top case but no side bags. This probably helps a lot when lane splitting. What I got a kick out of watching was every red light all the bikes would weave around the cars and buses to get up front and go like hell on the green. NYC should have those parking rules. Instead they prefer to tow, tow, tow. |

Only just caught up, work's been flat out, only 2 days home in 3 weeks so t'internet has had a back seat. Anyway, what you doing in Angouleme? come for the cartoon (picture books) festival? Nice place Angouleme but a bastard in a rig. BTW 2 different configs for mp3 in Europe, standard track which you can ride up to 125cc on a learner or car licence, over 125 you need a bike licence. Or wide track, which still isn't that wide, but means it's classed as a tricycle so you can ride any capacity on a car driving licence. Just one of those quirks of the Euro system. If you want a proper scooter go to Gilera, they're mental. If you get over near Geneva I'm about next week as wifey's away for her work & muggins has to burn a weeks vacation to be house husband. Anyway I need the sleep. Enjoy the food & the booze while you're here, my number's in the BRAN if you need it. |

Getting ready to board the plane for home. Fun and productive trip but short. Saw many many scooters, a couple of Harleys, a few Ducs, a new nice looking Triple Street, and one Buell XB speeding off around a corner at full song. Beautiful. (Message edited by whistler on October 17, 2011) |
