I loved this commercial when I first saw it. Had to search for it because I couldn't remember what they were selling but the commercial is cool. You can especially relate if you have kids. Although right now we're more apt to break into a Barbie, princess or Laurie Berkner jam but we'll get there.
I mean remember when Ozzy bit the heads off things, and snorted a line of fire ants! When did Ozzy get relegated to replace "99 Bottles of Beer" to entertain snotty-nosed children? C'mon, doesn't this bother anyone else? Am I alone here?
I don't get your beef about Ozzy's music. These kids would likely never see any of his concerts and videos. Why would they want to see an old video of what is now elevator music?
My kids really got into the music of the 70's when they were preteen. I know they did not know the lyrics to any of the songs or the meaning of it's time, but they liked the tunes.
For me it's all about enjoying time with the kids. I remember all of Ozzy's shenanigans but if I can have fun rolling down the highway belting out Werewolves of London, Radar Love or Crazy Train with my children enjoying the music I grew up with it's all the better. And it's not just Ozzy. Alice Cooper was far "spookier" and now he's peddling Office Depot and skipping rope.
in the "super extended version"...,..the adolescent kid with the Iphone in the back seat butchers the family and blows up the suv, then it ends with him thumbing it down the road and getting picked up by Ozzy in a brand new Black Camaro.....
I can remember when a honda pilot was a small dune buggy. a water cooled version of the old Honda Oddysey. Ah, not THAT was a vehicle worth singing about...
I had a pre-pilot Oddysey. Loved running off 4' moguls and flying through creeks long ways. Turned it over more than once. Roll cage was a little bent from and end over end trip down a hill. Did I say drifting on snow covered streets in Indianapolis. What a fun vehicle.
oh no, the commercial is decidedly PC diverse, look again.
THIS is of the same ilk when Nirvana Smells like Teen Spirit when Muzak in 1996 - you KNEW it was dead.
It is of the same vaine of the Toyota Sienna family where the mom is zoning out in the driveway like its a spa treatment escape. ugh.
Hell I would rock a electric Pea Mercury with 8 headlights and faux wood grain (provided it had a 429 in it) before I ever give into minivan. http://youtu.be/pTaTitRENDM
If you really want to feel old, I don't even know what song that is in the Honda commercial. It sounds familiar, so it probably was used in another commercial.
Then the CAFE standards were enacted, the loophole being that a truck wasn't on the list, and the SUV was born while perfectly good Station wagons ( estate wagons ) are fairly rare. There's the Dodge Magnum, and a few small cars that are really stretch hatchbacks. ( like my VW Sportwagen )
I loved the Pilot ad. I can see some uptight folk not liking the "sellout" aspect of any tune they loved as a kid being exploited for a commercial, and tend to agree when it's a Beatles tune.... but the Pilot ad is funny. Love the little girl in the middle. "Mental wounds not healing....Life's a bitter shame"
