I do not agree with road rage, if that was the issue. I do disagree with motorcyclist that do not follow the rules of the road. It appeared that he went around the stopped cars awaiting the light. If that was the case, it is wrong. We cannot expect to be treated with respect if we do not follow the same rules. It makes me mad as a driver to see motorcyclist cutting in front of cars when stopped. Last week while waiting on a backed up freeway exit ramp, 3 helmet-less crotch rocketeers were going around the stopped cars and all around acting like a dopes. I could see the people getting teed off as they cut around the cars. I looked over at the car driver next to me and he just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Kind of an embarrassment to be associated with them. | ||

In some (most maybe) areas in Europe it is common place and expected for bikes and scooters to filter to the head of the line at a stoplight. Not a big deal. No one gets mad. Everyone is cool with it. | ||

When I was in England (early 80s) cars left room in front when stopped a lights and rail crossings. Every biker I knew went to the front of the line. Drivers acted like that was what you were supposed to do. I had a fellow yelling at me the other day after he started speeding up and slowing down to keep me out of "HIS" lane. I backed it off and nailed it. I needed the left turn lane at the next light. It was on the other side of him. It should be mandatory that all drivers get a motorcycle license and hold it for 6 months prior to getting a cage certificate. | ||

I do not agree with the road rage part. Upon closer inspection, it appeared there must have been something going on before the stop. Here in the USA, I think cutting in front of cars awaiting the light or traffic is a formula for road rage. This ain't Taiwan with a million of scooters on the road. If it is legal in your state, it just does not seem right or courteous. If I were a non rider in a cage I would get peeved if some guy on a bike cuts in front of me. | ||

AS a motorcyclist, why should I sit in a line of traffic, wasting fuel and taking up more road space? I choose a mode of transportation that has the advantage of being able to safely move around all the cars that are taking up the space to begin with. As a car driver, why would I care if someone on a bike moves around me in a safe manner? I'm stuck in line and can't move my hulk of metal out of the way...so all i can do is sit there wasting fuel and space.... ....i wait my turn in line, wasting fuel and space. Why? Because of people like one of the posters above that are mad because they choose to be stuck in line instead of going around it. | ||
