Weather is nice for it... weekends are always cop & squid heavy at the Dragon. I'd personally rather ride Cherohala. |

Nuke- are youn's staying at Fontana Village, or what? Too bad you weren't here by yesterday, I've been off yesterday and today... Check out the ride thru Joyce Kilmer- it's a shortcut from Deal's Gap to the beginning of the Cherohala, just be sure you're full of gas- next chance for fuel is Tellico Plains! And- when you get to Tellico Plains, be sure to grab lunch (before 4pm) at the Tellico Plains Bakery, nomnomnom!! Then figure out the route from TP to Reliance TN and back- I know it, but forgot the highway #'s- hold on, I can provide a link: http://www.metropulse.com/news/2009/mar/23/road-re liance/ That route is fun too if you reverse it. Doesn't take too long to run the loop, plus you get to cruise alongside the Ocoee for a while- IIRC the same hwy that runs besides the Ocoee (TN64 I believe) will run into Chattanooga going west, if youn's want a whole day trip from Fontana. Might be early, but there are several fun sightseeing train rides in the area... Between Tellico Plains and Maryville, be sure to take TN360, NOT TN68/411 north- 360 is a great twisty road, a shorter shot to/fro, and 411/68 is just long and straight. I gotta get back to work tomorrow, but holler if you're in the Maryville TN area the next few days! Keep the rubber side down!!

Good on ya for heading out to Fontana Village- I HATE the Alcoa "Motor Mile", especially for driving, more so to STAY there when there's SO many better places in the area... My old peeps at Smoky Mountain would be a good visit, especially if youn's need some grub- go see Denny at the Shed for some killer BBQ, tell him "Buell Brad" sentcha! Looks like youn's will be in GA for the weekend, otherwise they always put on a good concert at the Shed on Saturdays... |

Cops have not been especially bad in Georgia lately. If you get down toward Dahlonega,GA,Riders Hill is a pretty cool place to check out. http://www.ridershill.com/ The road surface on 180 (Wolf Pen Gap road)is not good. It's rideable, the surface just sucks.60 north of TWO has some gravel.Other than that, have fun! |
