I guess they finally depressed themselves to the point of break up... Like Hybrd, I thought this had happened a long time ago. |

They stopped being relevant about 10 years ago. Bands are delivery systems for products created by songwriters. Go to a songwriter night and you have met the product manufacturers. Product manufacturers generally have a long life span in the business. They produce products for multiple style delivery systems (Country, Rock, R&B, etc.) Delivery systems have life spans of 1-5 years (see Hootie and the Blowfish and Counting Crows). Some delivery systems can extend their life span a few years longer. A very few delivery systems are able to extend their life span a lot longer. Most do it by vertically integrating the product manufacturing with the delivery system. |

Same here. Even when they were emerging, and though I was "supposed" to like them, I could never actually bring myself to really enjoy them. Even saw them in concert, and was just generally annoyed for most of the show. I hope they are rich and have a nice retirement though. Gotta be hard to live on the road. |

A good band gone wrong by the industry . Grumpy ! The Chili Peppers ? Like FRANK said , you sign on the dotted line for a real good time . But you never know when the good time will be happening . |

The "Red Hot Chili Peppers" who to my ears have been making & remaking the same crap for far too long, could fall off the planet tomorrow & I wouldn't be fussed. I've probably committed heresy & social suicide at the same time by saying this but , like REM, I just can't stand them. I think they're vastly overrated & entirely unoriginal. But that's just my opinion, & as we all know opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one. |

I've enjoyed some of what they've done from Chronic Town to Monster. Harborcoat, Wolves Lower, and Stumble are some of my favorite songs. |

Too much social commentary in music puts me off it. I just want to hear uplifting words or fun or interesting lyrics and good tunes. I have one of the REM "best of" albums on the phone. Good tunes. |

I enjoyed the middle stuff. The Early stuff just annoyed me, ( perhaps I wasn't socially aware enough ) and I didn't even know there WAS later stuff. ( I blame radio, that quit having DJ's to tell me what was being played. Hey! record companies! Why & how are we going to buy your new stuff if no one tells us that's what's on? Morons. ) I think a buddy is going to the next Rolling Stones "we're cyborgs now" tour. |
