POS Harbor Freight... yep... For motorcycle tires... works pretty good for motorcycle and smaller tires... but I couldn't fit the Jeep tire on it. |

Yes, Gary. You know how he likes tire lube! Does your HF POS motorcycle tire changer mount up on top of the POS HF car tire changer like mine does? |

I lengthened the quick disco's on the sway bar in a attempt to push the sway bar up out of the way when its disconnected.... With the offset wheels, I hope I don't have any rubbing. I'll let you know how it works out. Jeep Skool is this weekend!! I'm stoked! |

The look of the M2.....nice on the newer body styles! I like it. Hey Mark, I can build those for your Jeep. You live too far away though. I would trade you for helping on my CJ. |

THEY B PLASTIC!! Never to rust... WOOOT!! By design, they are low profile, so they miss many of the objects that would normally impact an OEM fender. Being made from UV protected impact-resistant plastic, if they do happen to contact a foreign object, whether it is a tree, rock, or whatever else you can try to squeeze a Jeep through, the Flexible Fenders are designed to elastically flex and return to their normal shape. Further, these fenders are extremely lightweight, paintable, and cost substantially less than a comparable aftermarket tube fender. Made in the USA!

Almost finished painting & assembling my engine. One of my friends said to me yesterday, "I didn't know you were making it a show Jeep?" I asked him why he thought that and he said, "Cause you making the engine so pretty." I laughed and told him it would only look like that for the first few days of driving. lol Before I painted the valve covers.
After I painted the valve covers. I thought they came out pretty good.

We took the top and both doors off and it was a good thing. At the end of the trail the jeep is forced to the right and the roll bar drug across a tree. If the top would have been on, I would have no top.... |

Better get a six pack and figure what tools you need to be able to change them on the trail. This is one of those jobs that is ugly dirty and greasy, that you really need to be able to do. Or you can obtain and carry spare drive shafts and their mounting bolts. It is truly a factoring thing.....the more fun $ you have, the more fun $ you are going to have! It is human nature!May the Force be with you! |

I used 50/50 mix of acetone & automatic trans. fluid as my "Break Free penetrating oil super nut loosening lube" and it worked great. Both drive shaft came off pretty easy. Machinist's Workshop magazine tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts. They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment. The results are as follows; Penetrating oil..... Average load None ..................... 516 pounds WD-40 .................. 238 pounds PB Blaster ............. 214 pounds Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds Kano Kroil ............ 106 pounds ATF-Acetone mix....53 pounds The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50-50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone.

Drive shafts back in and no more squealing. Rear differential is engaging the posi and making a wonder popping sound. Time for a little more lube work. Aussie locker for the front axle is my next move |

If custom shafts are in the works, I worked at Henderson Driveline, I can hook you up. Test drove an '06 Rubicon... Wife isn't thrilled, but I REALLY want it. What type posi unit? Clutch type or gear type? |

Unless it has had a locker of some type installed, it has a clutch type limited slip...needs a lube change and a bottle of friction modifier... If you install an Aussie Locker in the front...be prepared to do some case clearancing in the carrier...3 out of the 4 that I have installed needed some love to clear the drive elements...the weak link in a D-30 is the housing...a truss will help... If you lock the front, the front driveshaft will run all the time unless you put a lock hub kit in it $$$$...this may or may not give you a problem with drivetrain vibes. If I was building another 4x4, I would go with an ARB, or OX, or one of the electric lockers...expecially if you ever plan on playing on slick rock or boulders...it is REAL handy to be able to unlock the front with a flip of a switch. If you will only be playing on dirt or mud, you don't really need one as much. If you go with a locking hub kit...spend the money on a Warn kit and pay attention to the tire size limitations...been there, have the t/shirt...I have thrown down almost as many parts at the mud hole as I have thrown down at the dragstrip... And on the U-joints, two hammers and some pliers works...but you can't beat a ujoint tool...I have a Blue Point...no hammering needed. |
