Supply and demand. WE Buell fans are to blame. If someone wants to build a chopper project, the first step is to find a donor bike. Most want an HD derived motor. The options are a Buell or an HD. Given the same manufacturing date, the Buell can be had for a fraction of the cost of an HD donor bike. If we were as worried about preserving Buells as we all seem to be when these mutants appear, we would be buying them up as soon as the donor bikes come on the market. We're not. If we were, the price would rise, and the advantage of buying a Buell over an HD would end. The higher performance of the Buell's package also makes them a target. At some point in time, the supply of Buells will be exhausted, the price will rise, and we won't have to worry about choppers being made out of them. The question is how many Buells will be saved or sacrificed before then. | ||
