Anybody notice the subtle differences in the logos for the new models?
RX has a long straight road, SX has what appears to be an intersection, AX is green behind the 'A' What does it mean? Speculate. |

Fatty - I hope you're right. While I was checking out the 1190RS at White's I was daydreaming about an ST version but the closest I've heard people talking about so far is "adventure". |

Happens a lot. It's what happens when he posts the actual story and the erases it. The faint whiff of the story smells like "remind me to tell you sometime". |

Court Canfield, "Remind me to tell you Sometime" Now available at Amazon, for Kindle, Nook, and Digital down load. I would stand in line like a teen to see Justin Bieber to get ahold of those notes, stories, photos. I suppose the story of the Griffen is about all I can get, since the bike seems dormant perpetually. |

Next time I'm in NYC, I need to fill Court up with BBQ and beer... So I can remind him to tell me. |

Judging from the number of times I've seen that, I think Court second-guesses himself a lot. "THERE!......(long pause) Ummmm, well, errr, maybe I better NOT say that..." [delete message]

My guess was an admonishment against such forceful statements as to the model type statements. Since they are all WAGs, I can paint my dreams any color I want. |

i doubt fatty's theory becuase they NEED an AFFORDABLE sportbike to really make suit, i think it'll be this (we should just make a free survey or something lol): RX- Sportbike SX- Sport Touring or a naked sport bike AX- Adventure bike/ dual sport/ dirtbike but all of this is speculation of course....all i know is if i pay my 1125 off by the end of this year and they come out with a cheaper RS then a tough decision to make or whether or not i will take the plunge in another payment... "these are exciting times!" Jake |

R - think Firebolt (XB-R) S - Lightning (XB-S) A - adventure Not to say the new models will be xb-style bikes, but I suspect they are keeping the R and S nomenclature. After all, they do mean "Race" and "Street"...low bars with a fairing, and naked bike with upright seating. but that's just my guess... |

Thursday [\speculation] Spot the odd one out. Well it's obviously the 2-door SX Speculate? I love this game, nice to see it return I'll take two guesses at what E-B-R are up to... #1 - Three 1190 based modular bikes with a lot of common parts enabling instant model line up with all three released together, or at least within the one model year, as well as helping to keep prices down. Could be expanded to smaller engined derivatives in the future. RX - Real world sportbike, looking similar to an RS, but slightly more comfortable ergos and more budget-conscious suspension etc. SX - Naked streetbike, basically the RX minus fairing with tubular bars, but same tail section. AX - Adventure/Sport, basically an SX with long travel suspension and tail section to accommodate passenger/hard bags. #2 - Three new models, plus a revised RS, released over 2-3 years or more. May or may not be 1190 based... RX - Like FB said, "Road Cross", a real world all-weather (full fairing) sport-touring bike, but more sport than tourer. Maybe 1190 based, maybe a big triple or V-four. SX - The meanest, leanest, nastiest streetfighter ever seen. Somewhere around 170hp 1190 twin, full adjustable suspension, virtually no bodywork, just two wheels and an engine. It'll make the Ducati Streetfighter look as offensive as a Vespa. AX - A is for Assault, as in Urban Assault. Think Adventure+Supermotard. Maybe V-twin, maybe a smaller and lighter single, but either way ideal for fire trails, dirt roads, sidewalks, and gutter jumping . RS - MY2013 1190RS will be production-ised with Showa or Sachs suspension, series production motor etc, and a minor cosmetic makeover, priced somewhere around the same as an RC8R or S1000RR. Possible RSR model for racers/homologation. (Alternate RX - Something I'd like to see, a 120hp-ish 890RS or similar ) There's another post floating around with some pics of the 1190RS's in E-B-R's showroom. It could mean nothing, but there is an 1125R, a Uly and an RS1200 in the same room... |

Given his history...I'd be surprised to see Erik bring a non-twin to market. I've been wrong plenty of times in the past...but that's my take on things. IIRC my "25 Years" reading, he just likes (believes in?) the power and tractability of a twin too much. I also think "variations on a theme" to be the smart way to go, at least for the time being. Common bones - again, think the XB family - with variations on seating, bodywork, and possibly displacement. |
