Bought my 2003 Lightning new in Fall of 2005. Just like the subject says, I hit 50,000 on my ride today. Knock on wood I havent had any engine work done to date. Little stuff, kickstand sensor went out, heat sensor. Both were annoying but thats it pretty much. I LOVE MY BIKE! lol! |

The 9's really are the duracell bunnies of the Buell family, those motors just run forever... If my Uly motor died, I would consider a 9 to replace it. |

Congrats and here's hoping for many more!!!! As much as I love both Ulys, it was very sad to see the xb9 go. The lightnings are great bikes, glad to see you are enjoying yours. |

The 9 motor was and is the best off the air cooled motors IMHO. I believe the shorter stroke provides less vibrations granting them extended life. I've always wanted a 9S/R. One day...... Hell, if a 9 can survive Barker, they are darn near indestructible. |

I have always wanted a 'nine', but me being built like a stack of onion rings, i don't think it would enjoy me on top of it! |

Right now I weigh 235lbs., and my '9R has no problem hauling me around. |

Terri hit 50K on the way to Indianapolis on her '08 XB12Ss. If the engine requires anything other than routine maintenance before 100K, I'll be surprised. |
