B00, look closely at the bottom behind the fairing, the muffler is still there. |

Um, I'm looking at one of the pics from the original poster, and there are obvious frayed CF threads hanging out. It was just an observation. I know jack shit about carbon fiber. I just know if I was plunking down forty thousand dollars on a motorcycle, I'd be a little disappointed about that. Oh and if its that terrible why not build something better yourself for a cheaper price? Seriously? So I guess the next time you buy a car and one of the dash panels doesn't fit quite right, you'll just rush out and build your own car. ~SM |

Looking at the same picture I am GUESSING that it is lint from a towel or cloth used to clean the bike, but that may just be me. I KNOW the only frayed CF I saw on the street bike/test mule I saw at VIR in August was where they cut an access hole in the ducting area for the radiator exit on the right side to access an O2 sensor bung for the rear cylinder. Quality, build and craftmanship are top notch on this bike NOTE: The hole looked to be a trackside modification and definately was not production. The one I saw at Daytona was FLAWLESS. It was on display on a table. I looked at it from all angles, INCHES away. Anybody need an old, but useable kidney?? |

Swordsman's 100% right if the CF is frayed I'd be pissed too. That being said i doubt it is frayed it is more likely a piece of towel as previously suggested. Oh and his statement was about the bike yours was an attack on him. so IMO an apology would be appropriate. But what do i know. |

Yep there were no frays in person. Remember I used my camera phone that sits in my pocket all day! I looked these bikes over very closely and saw no issues with the carbon as to be expected from Erik Buell Racing!! note..I am not associated with Erik Buell Racing in any way shape or form nor do I own an 1190 motorcycle I am just stating what I saw as my opinion. |

The one I saw was flawless as well. Work of art. Keep in mind people a lot of the $40k is wrapped up in hot rod stuff like the wheels, motor, forks ect lots of cool stuff there. |

BOO - the second (and yes, it is the second) muffler is simply for noise restrictions. I can't remember if it was AMA restrictions or EPA... I think it's four bolts, and you're back to an 1125 style exhaust. clamp at each lower muffler outlet (that's 2 bolts), and I think 2 bolts hold the second muffler to the tail section. |

From RoadRacingWorld “We’re just finishing up the EPA and DOT testing, and the emissions look really, really good,” said Buell. “We put a couple of catalytic converters in the muffler. It has a secondary muffler because it has a pretty high output engine, and we wanted to make sure it was well legal. And it’s actually 2 decibels under the limit and well controlled. But to do that we needed more muffler than we could fit under the bike. There just wasn’t enough room. And it also makes us world-legal because you have to have a high, rear-pointing exhaust outlet for Japan to pass the sound test. So it will be legal there.” From what I can tell, that does NOT look like frayed carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is generally a carbon like color |

Hahahhaha . . . I've likely seen more of these than anyone on Badweb. I'll give you my PERSONAL OPINION. The Carbon Fiber is as close to perfect as I have ever seen on a motorcycle production or after market. That includes my very famous Carbon Fiber and purple S1 that was featured in the magazines. The one thing that really impresses about the 1190RS is the attention to detail. Like MOTORCYCLIST said . . you keep looking to find "Something/Anything" (Sorry Todd Rundgren) wrong with it . . . you just can't. Don't believe me. . . . come see it this weekend. |

Who's making the carbon fiber bodywork? Is it the same co. that did the bodywork for the CF models in '99? Whoever made those, in my opinion, did an excellent job as well. The only blemishes in mine were unfortunately put there by me |

The showroom also had an XB-RR with that glorious ram air intake. Thanks Trbulnt. A sportsbike, an adventure bike, a sport-tourer (by modern standards) and a race bike... interesting. Or a watercooled, an XB, a tuber, and a racebike. |

Looking at the same picture I am GUESSING that it is lint from a towel or cloth used to clean the bike, but that may just be me. Quite possible... like I said, I know nothing about CF, so based on the pic I just assumed. It is most definitely one badass bike, one that I'd (almost) give my left nut for just to say I had one. Lord knows I'd never be able to use it to its full potential... my Ss was more than I needed! ~SM} |

I need a Buell 1190SST, sport tourer set up with bags, shield, upright position so I can ride all day on the backroad and freeway. A replacement for my ZG1000 Concours and stablemate for P-3. I'll wait Erik. |
