Go west young man and grow up with the country quote by John B L Soule and latter by Horace Greeley. Zane you're not to old to take on one more big challenge. |

Glad you think so champ. Still I've told everyone that I'm going to live to be 107 (and shot by a jealous husband). So that makes me just barely middle aged... Talked to older son tonight. He has applied to a commercial dive school. The school is in Jacksonville, Fl. 20 weeks there and then out to the oil platforms as a tender. Takes a couple of years out there to earn the right to call yourself a diver. Kind of dangerous way to make a living but the money is good and it will fill his need for adventure. Talked to ex wife tonight too. She is ok with younger son coming out to Phoenix for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also agreed that he could come out for all of next summer. This could actually work. |

it's ineffective to base your life decisions on what your ever-older & increasingly independent children will/might do you'll no sooner shape your life to theirs and THEY get the across-the-country job offer, or a new lover, or...... |

So true. I pack the U-haul tomorrow. Want to get it done by 3:00 or so. I'd like to go to the local bike night one last time. It's the biggest in the state of Florid and always a good time. Thursday morning it's on the road we go. |

Well, I'm in Glendale now. Drive seemed like it took forever but got to see just how beautiful America is. Now I just need to find a place to live, get the U-haul unloaded and learn my way around. No problem... |

Zane, I'm glad you made a good choice and more importantly, it's exciting to hear about others taking the leap of faith and being successful at it. I'll be doing the same in a few months. It's time for this Soldier to go home. |

So, I've spent my first full day here in Glendale,AZ. The heat was like walking right into a hair dryer. Still no more uncomfortable that Florida, just a different kind of uncomfortable. Everyone I've interacted with has been nice and helpful. While looking at an apartment in an "economical" part of town I was talking to an obvious gang banger. Thought I was gonna get my arse kicked until I mentioned I needed a safe place to park the Buell. He did a complete 180 and starting telling how great his F1 is. Talked m/c with him for a couple of minutes and then he told me where to look and where not to look. So far, so good. The move thing could just work after all. |
