I ordered a new Droid 3 tonight as an upgrade and was told that I have to have a $30.00 data package, which I knew. I don't stream music, will not be using it as a hotspot (if it was even capable), and will not be streaming music. Even still, I was shocked to see that it is limited to the 2GB. With that in mind, how far will that take me? I also could not get a straight answer as to what it counted towards that 2GB. Internet use, e-mail, etc. Do app downloads and use of the apps count? Should I just cancel this order and stick with my 'plain jane' EnV3? |

Data is used anytime you access the internet for data meaning internet browsing of web pages, email, updating app software etc. If you do alot of browsing and email you can easily go over 2gig I've read. If you have wifi in the places you spend the most time at you may be ok as using wifi wont go against your data usage. |

All data usage will count towards it, that means everything that isn't a phone call or SMS. All email, web browsing, youtube videos, etc. 2gb? Thats harsh. Use a program like NetCounter to keep an eye on how much data you are using. 2gb goes by fast! |

Apparently, it's wifi enabled so work, home and school is covered... Still considering ditching it all together. |

They recently changed it... My wife has unlimited because she was grandfathered in. |

Your phone will come with an app called my Verizon that you can quickly check minutes, texts and data used. I use wifi at home and work and halfway through my billing cycle I've used .23gig. Id get the droidx2 over the droid3 though. The big screen is nice and its a thin package. I wasn't a big fan of DROID 1 keyboard. |

I've used both. I prefer a 'real' keyboard. The Droid 3 is HDMI and has a front camera. |

Droid 1's keyboard is nothing like the Droid 2 or 3 besides the fact that it slides out. I'm still rocking my Droid 1 rooted with Cyanogen and overclocked to 1.2ghz. Keeping my unlimited data with no contract, as long as I don't sign up for a new contract, which means buying phones on the open market and activating it myself. |

Pwnzor, so if you renew your contract you lose the unlimited data? That's dumb on their part. AT&T will let me keep my unlimited data regardless of contract status unless I give it up for one of the lower priced capped data plans, then it's no longer available to me. |

I have the 2G plan on AT&T and I come close to it every month, but I'm on my phone ALL THE TIME and occasionally stream Pandora or Slacker outside on 3G (maybe 4 hrs/month or so). I also have wifi at the house so of course all my big data goes through that, but unless you're watching YouTube all the time on the road I don't think you'll have to worry about the 2GB cap. It's also nice that AT&T will send me a text when I get to 65% exhaustion of my data plan. |

Hmm, I thought they'd keep an unlimited plan as an option. Guess not, if I ever have to update my plan I will ditch Verizon. I'm sure there's a lot of other folks out there who will do the same. Their loss. |

if you now have a Verizon unlimited plan, when you renew it there won't be any change. Only if your a new customer will you see any change. |

I stream Pandora a lot and I never come close to 2 gigs of date, I youtube and surf the web a bit and email too, you'd have to be doing major video and streaming to get to 2 gigs, it is possible though. the new plans suck, I pay $30 for unlimited, but I"d gladly pay $15 for 2 gigs |

Nope. I use around 1GB a month on my Gmail and Activesync app alone, then do another 2-3gb of web browsing, it is rare I do youtube or netflix as 3G is painfully too slow. I don't do any music streaming, I tried Pandora and didn't really like it. |

It doesn't count if your on wifi. So whenever available, connect to wifi to do your "big" downloading. Most Android apps are 5mb or less, and even with streaming and such you probably won't hit 2gbs or even close. |

I have the 200mb plan from AT&T, I only go over the limit if I'm traveling. My phone is on wifi at home and at work (and usually at friend's houses) so I only use data when I'm out somewhere. I don't shy away from email/twitter/facebook/browsing when I'm out, but I do make a point not to stream music or video for any length of time. 2gb should be more than enough for the average user. |

I have unlimited on my cell phone but only get 5 gig on my broadband modem card for my home computer. I had to quit using my home computer for the last two days to avoid paying for exceeding the 9 gig mark which cost me an additional $40.00 as it was. |

Got the phone. It's awesome. Having a problem with the wireless thought, it's an endless loop of 'Obtaining IP address' to 'Disabled'. I think there's too much 'stuff on my wireless router... |

That usually is due to you typing in the password wrong. It is highly unlikely you ran out of IP addresses, unless your router is setup incorrectly. |

Froggy, I appreciate it. There was an issue with the WEP. Last time I used it, I apparently mixed up a digit. Once I ironed that out, it was fine. I had read about some of the issues with 'noise', etc., as usual, it was something simple. I appreciate it! |
