i was sitting in a classroom with AugustaWestland at the Philadelphia airport when it started swaying for about 30 seconds. told them that was an earthquake. lots of panic after the fact around here if you listen to the news. seemed fairly minor. I hope Summit Point, WV didn't have any damage on the track. Team Challenge this weekend with CCS. stay safe, tim |

The quake was caused by the debt ceiling collapsing. |

This just in....at 4pm EST President Obama will hold a news conference blaming the earthquake on former President Bush. In other news, impending hurricane "Irene" is Sarah Palins fault. |

Some pretty funny tweets... "@Ben_Howe: As all of DC leaves work at the same time, the United States experiences a brief economic recovery." more... |

thought to myself..."self...you didn't fill that prescription for percoset, so what the hell is that???" heh. definitely unsettling. the dogs still have their tails between their legs. very weird moment - well, about 15 seconds here in frederick. totally calm air, not a leaf moving in the trees, and then things start rumbling. heard the chains on the tiki torches clanking on the poles first, then things settled into a pretty good shake. I can't imagine living in 'earthquake territory'. ugh. |

I just downloaded an android earthquake app, WOW. I had no idea there was that much activity. Shows Virginia just had a 4.2 aftershock an hour ago. Colorado has been having them for days, including 6 aftershocks today.. damn |

yes, this was the first time I felt a quake. Pretty interesting. I was in class, was a bit early, was on the top floor of the building and everything was shaking pretty good. Exciting. A bit unsettling not knowing what was going on. Overall - eh. |

I've had the android app for a few months now, it is fantastic, even though I couldn't care less about a 1.2 in some Philippine island I never heard of, it is cool to learn about. |

Not sure which one you got Frank, but you can change the magnitude for alerts. I learned withing the first 5 min that it wasn't going to stay at 1.0! So far this app is right up there with "Space Junk"! |

The epicenter was in Louisa, va. They said school has been closed for tomorrow, it supposedly shook the high school pretty good. I haven't heard of anyone getting hurt. The Foodlion in the town of Louisa had everything knocked off the shelves. Louisa is a town name and the county name as well, yes real original. My delivery truck rumbles so much on its own I didn't feel a thing. Of course I am across the blue ridge in the valley. My kids said that they felt it in school. I always seem to miss the cool stuff. I felt it. As a displaced California I was wondering what all the fuss was about. You'd think it was the zombie apocalypse..... |

"Due to the unusual severity of the quake that hit near D.C., the GOP representatives in the House called an emergency session and adopted a bill to rename the fault that runs under the Capital. It will now be known as Obama's Fault."

There wasn't an earthquake in Washington, D.C. It was our founding fathers rolling over in their graves.............../ |

Sorry all, it was my wifes fault, we were exercising our conjugal rights & she said the earth moved, but she's a bit geographically challenged so you got it over there. |

I work in a cubicle hell operations center on steel raised floors in a 60's era concrete building. It sounded like a hardware store on a paint mixer. Being a Tennesseean living in Maryland...I don't do quakes. But when the big 3 story building started shaking like a V-twin with no balancing, I thought I was gonna have to check my shorts. Then it shook some more, and I did check them. We evac'd the building and I just knew the Buell was going to be in a big domino-rally pile of bikes. Luckily, it wasn't. So at dinner tonite I ordered Quaker oats, Shake n' bake, tossed salad, a milkshake, and a Martini...shaken...not stirred. |
