I'd been hoping my accident three years ago would be my last ever hospital stay. But when I doubled over in massive amounts of pain monday night, I knew I wasn't going to be so lucky. Short story is I'm now laying here, minus one gall bladder, four bandages covering some new holes in my gut. Food still sucks, the articulating beds are still pretty cool, and I reallyreally can't wait to get home to my mutts |

Did the same routine a couple of years ago. After the surgery I swore they left a scalpel in there. It hurt worse than more serious surgeries. I've actually grown to like hospital rooms. Just wished they'd let my dog sleep at the foot of the bed. Heal up, Dude. |

Hill-Rom makes hospital beds. Batesville makes caskets. Both are owned by the same company, so they've got it covered just in case |

Thats funny right there, I dont care who you are. yes, there should be a post op xray for every surgical procedure - the halls of lawsuits are full of things left inside. Our local hospital and SNF has visiting Canines - they help with dementia, sociability and provide curative touch therapy .... and they cost less than a doctors consultation ! sorry to hear about your re admit. Glad you didnt have to suffer a waiting list to get the services you needed. Get well soon. The road is waiting. |

The attacks sucked felt like someone was kicking me in the balls for hours at a time!!! anything with olive oil in it would trigger em |

Not a good way to get a break, but at least it didn't require messing up a good bike. Get out of there, you got things to do! |

You have no idea how much I have to do these days...I do need out! More than that...I need a salty snack. All ice been getting here is sugary stuff. Juice. Jello. Even the coffee. Gimme a dorito or a saltine!! Yeah. Monday sucked. Had eaten a salad earlier with cheddar cheese and ranch dressing about an hour before. Started like a gas feeling and over about five minutes, turned into what felt like a firemans axe buried between my ribcage and my belly. Never felt pain like that before. Hurt so bad I actually said the phrase "don't let it end this way" to the sky while waiting for the ambulance on the porch. I thought something had ruptured and it was all over. |

Joe, If I was closer, I'd sneak you a big mac and fries. I wondered where you went when you didn't answer the email or continue posting. I picked up intake seals. At $5 a pair, it's cheap insurance. I think I've figured out the vacuum bung and tapered tap. Good learning experience. I will take a good look at the ported vacuum thing. I need to understand it! Heal up. Sorry I can't come visit. |

No worries rd. Thanks for the thoughts, and good luck with the gauge. For reference, ported vacuum on a car is used as a "switch" for certain things. You can run accessories off vacuum switches just like electrical ones. Since the xb was designed at one point to be turbocharged, the existing nipple may have been designed in for boost control... |

It may be for the cal. emissions. To put only 5 inches of vacuum into the canister under certain conditions. |

thanks for the good wishes everyone. Vern: Ask my parts guy. I'd ordered new shoes for the uly monday morning, so I could make the trip Without another return-leg blowout. I'd rather be there, trust me. Grab me a shirt? If they run big get me a L; if they run "normal" I'll go XL. Or one of each if there's enough available. Have fun. Looks like I get discharged today, can bathe tomorrow (pesky holes in my belly can't get wet yet), can't lift over 15#, can't go to work for a week and have to get staples out next week. Wheee. Can you say "online shopping"? |

Well Joe, if you are still in the hospital and have to start dating again, you are in a target-rich environment. I met my wife when I was working in the hospital and she was a just-graduated nurse. We'll be married 30 years this October. Good luck! |

depends on how closely related to the accident mentioned was, and whether some billing coder puts that V code in your billing. If it is direct resultant of a MVA, that someone else, or some other policy could pay on... they will at first deny it, pend it, roll out a cert investigation, then pay minimally on it. If you have any problems with BS/BC, drop me a note- glad to give them a full ration of shiate on your behalf if they try and give you the run around. Nothing delights me more, than screwing the morons that aint read a policy, that dont understand insurance. |

nah, this one isn't connected to the mva. plain ol' emergency surgery on a failed organ. standard gummint employee (spousal, for now) health insurance thru bc/bs. |

Dude, I hope you get feeling better fast. It's been a couple days, you gettin' better? Restrictions on riding or just as tolerated? |

nothing strenuous...including sports, or another three letter "s" word (not a part of my life these days anyway, lol). strongly recommended not to ride, and given how loose these staples look i don't think i want to take the chance. i can live without a ride for a week. everything else is 'to tolerance', including diet. finally got to shower yesterday, incisions were healed enough i could get them wet. score? -1 gall bladder, +4 incisions, +12 staples. wheee. but yeah, feeling good for someone who got sucker-punched repeatedly moving stiff, but moving. no nausea. just....bored. gaaaaah. got new tires for the uly out there but can't pull the wheels/tires to swap them...but again, don't have to because there's still some life left and the swap this week was just so i could get to (and back from!) wvbr...got a new exhaust for one of my cars, same story, can't do anything with it...all this free time, nothing on the 'ok to do' list! grrrrrr |
