Bought my uly last year with 27 miles on it, had the 1000 mile service done at the dealer, the issue I'm having is I just hit 5000 miles and have no money for the dealer to do it. I asked about doing it myself and they said to keep my receipts. I have changed the oil over to Amsoil in both holes myself at 3000 miles. I guess my main question is how soon do I need to do it before I void my warranty? Warranty end date is October of 2012.

The oil change at 3000 miles was unnecessary. The 5000 mile service is basically just a oil change anyway.

stick to the schedule.

show receipts.

use approved materials or at least oils with the same rating as those listed in the owners and shop manuals.

you will uphold your warranty that way.

if you don't stick to the schedule, that gives them the 'out' they need to say 'not covered'.

If using mineral oil, about 3,000 miles is the maximum without an oil analysis to prove otherwise. I've never considered an oil change to a superior oil "unnecessary"- it's more piece of mind. The Amsoil should be good for 7,500-10,000 miles, but again, you'd need an analysis done to know for sure.

Go down the checklist in the service manual and do what needs to be done yourself- there's nothing really that difficult. Keep a record/receipt of what you do and you should be fine.
