Mtjm2: Anyone who argues that MSNBC isn't just as liberal as Fox News is conservative is just being silly. I've kind of run out of news sources that I find objective. If you've got a suggestion, please let me know what it is.

I read Der Spiegel online in English, Financial Times from England with my coffee, the Economist (Brit) for fun, and listen to PBS and Rush Limburger for bass and harmonics. The wife keeps Fox Snooze on all day. And, of course, Drudge is the one-size-fits-all cross roads for all things left, right, and three-headed.

I agree with the article. But as a youngster myself (30 years old), I have never understood why my generation acts like this. No wonder why police and older folks such as my neighbors, profile me. I was raised by my mother who was single. She raised me with good morals. She taught me if you want something, you have to earn it. It's not given to you. Respect your elders and treat others as you want to be treated.

While growing up my friends usually got whatever they wanted, never had to spend a dime on anything and just partied and participated in stupid crimes and drugs just because it was cool. Most of them are still doing the same thing and getting free handouts. They will never learn. I agree with Glitch that it is parenting that has failed! I am married, have a good job, and have a wonderful daughter with another on the way. I own my own home which I have worked hard for. It makes me sad that I am profiled because of my generations laziness and crudeness. Were not all like that!!

Thanks. I've never read Der Spigel. Can you tell me where you find it online in English? Financial Times is a must. Never got into the Economist. Listen to National Proletariat Radio daily, and Rush when my wife will let me. I'll have to check out Drudge too.

I was reading an AP piece the other day. It was horrible. The "journalist" used a number of really shady tactics like "some say... (fill in journalist personal opinion here). Any report that includes that kind of yellow journalism is nothing but garbage. It's bewildering how many "reports" fail even the most basic standard such as answering who, what, where, when. It's maddening.

I can't stand Rush. WAY too much blathering nonsense.

Then in video journalism there are the despicable leading questions.

For an eye-opener, watch Media Malpractice. It's on NetFlix.

Blake: Rush is awesome. A few weeks ago, when we were in the middle of that crazy heat wave, he said (no joke) that the Heat Index was a liberal invention to make us all believe in global warming. I wanted so bad to call him and tell him that the Wind Chill is the conservative counter-invention. I laughed so hard I almost crashed my truck. Had to pull over.

They arrested people AFTER the gov ORDERED a public space closed to the public. Period. Wow ! Way off topic anyhow... start a new thread if you are so gung ho on proof. Two sides to every story... oh unless it is Faux News...

Just curious. Where are you getting the other side of this story? Did you actually see these nine getting arrested? Nice attempt at deflection though, blaming the messenger. And it was you that brought this topic into the discussion, so blame yourself if it's off topic.

Mtjm2: Sad to say, but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Blake and I would be able to produce a more coherent bill with a greater success of achieving the ultimate goal that would the committee.

Here is the transcript as I see it:

Blake: We have to cut entitlement spending.

Me: Not across the board. How about we require drug testing for illegal drug use on a monthly basis for those on government support. That should cut spending a bit.

Blake: I might be okay with that. Next item.

Me: How about we legalize marijuana use and then tax the hell out of it?

Blake: But then we couldn't kick people off government support if they used!

Me: Good point. Drugs can stay bad. How about we implement a new import tax to incentivize domestic production and provide a disinsentive to foreign production and import?

Blake: Im not so sure. I really don't like taxes. But I love american made stuff. I'll give you this since you game me the welfare thing

Me: Great start! That should take care of couple hundred gerzillion. Time for lunch and beer.

Blake: Cool.

Only listen to Rush's first hour to see what he's harping on. The next two hours are filler. If I can listen to Diane Rheam on NPR, you can listen to the conserva-megaphone.

Asbjorn:

That is the BEST news I have heard all day! I thought Atlas Shrugged, Part 2 was toast due to the poor box office of AS1. The first movie was top notch so I can't wait to see Dagny Taggart learn the truth.

You seem a bit too old to be the child of Al and Joanne. Coincidence with your name being American Sport Bikejorn?

I'm all for legalizing marijuana. I'd have no qualms about prohibiting it's use by anyone accepting gov't assistance for prolonged periods. If you are taking money from others, then you ought to behave frugally. I like the idea that anyone on gov't assistance more than one year must submit to gov't health review, behavior screening, etc. You want to get by for more than one year on the efforts of others, then you will have to submit to massive invasion of privacy.

Cool?

Married homos with machine guns? Huh?

My solution, dept of education, gone.

Post office, sold to private industry. (The internet is more vital today than the USPS and the internet isn't free or provided by the gov't, so why not the same for the post office?)

Ditch the entire tax code and change to consumption tax, including a 0.3 % tax on all real estate, stocks, bonds, commodities, futures, options, etc. transactions.

Blake There are some nice folks in Europe. You forget about the english army shooting the Irish When we sent our guys to Bosnia, Purges before ww2 in Soviet Georgia What the Germans did to the jews and the Russian Communists continued.
Are you familiar with Frank Whittle's story inventor of the Jet Engine. Class snob english Barbarians stole his lifes work and gave it to GE and Rolls Royce and sent him back to bomber command he was later killed in action. Do you understand my cesspool evaluation better now?

Gallipoli.

Upper class Western Euro social strata always reminds me of African tribalism.

'course, it's taken quite a foot hold here in the new world.

Trojan, Old Blimey is sozi, has been since WW2. The Iron Lady gave a fair crack at the whip to your capitalists at the same time Reagan did the same on this side of the pond. But we both have sozi a post-war bend throughout our politics and societies. So says me, and further deponent sayeth not, for the time being.

Ken,

Are there not similar examples here. The slave trade for instance? I thought the Germans were first to use the jet engine. The Enron executive types are everywhere you find greed, which is to say virtually everywhere. I don't want to start another discussion, I just can't agree that Europe is a cesspool, not by any measure.

While we are talking about waste there was a guest host on WHO radio and one topic he was discussing is the welfare charge cards given to the states.

He was giving figures on how much money is charged to the Iowa cards in places like Washington, Oregon, Las Vegas, Florida, etc. His question was "If these people are needy, then why are they being used all over the country?" He also pointed out that the US issues these cards then tells the states that it is their responsibility to find fraud. The problem is that the US doesn't give the states any money to look for the fraud.
There was a lot of discussion on privatization and such but the best was that the money could only be spent in the state that the card was issued in. Drug testing was also a popular sugestion.
