The problem, Blakester, is that you decide what is and what isn't "thoughtful debate" by whether the participants agree with what you already believe. If it differs, it is "nonsense." Also, if the personal attack is coming from you, its ribbing. If from someone else against you and yours, it is a personal attack. The whole thing is silly. You may or may not be a fascist. But you are a hypocrite. If calling it like I see it is a banable offense round here, I'm guilty as charged. | ||

Justin, You are a newbie here and your "battle" has been fought MANY times. Badweb has been around for a LONG time mostly because of Blake. Whether you like it or not, THIS IS BLAKE'S HOUSE. As far as I know, Blake doesn't take unilateral action but calling him a "hypocrite" is not going to garner you any favor with the Custodians (think of the Others from Lost). You might do well and tell us about how cool your Buell is. I plan on doing likewise this weekend and post a few pix from the 1503.1 mile Uly ride that Laurie and I recently took to Yosemite and Mono Hot Springs in the Sierras. You might consider cooling your jets. Life is unfair. Badweb is mostly fair. Get used to it. Or not. | ||

Reindog: If I get banned for telling it like it is, I won't lose much sleep over it. I understand that this is Blake's house, and he can clean it like he wants. If differing views are things he can't tolerate here, so be it. I'll join the bone pile of those that dared call him for what he is. P.s. My Buell IS bad ass. Switched from a Suzuki GSX-R to a Harley Sportster when I was younger. Being back on a sportbike is nice. Being on an American sportbike is heavenly. | ||

Honolulu, Up until this point i have been supporting you and enjoying your posts. Honestly for the most part you have made sense and I have enjoyed your posts. I only say this next part as i would like to see them continue. Your point has been heard and to be honest i agree with parts of it but continuing on poking the bear is not going to allow you future posts to be heard. Calling him Blakster just reinforces his stance and makes yours moot. | ||

I hear you, and I really do appreciate what you are saying. Backing off and fighting another day isn't really an option around here though, is it? Keeping quiet or getting in line is certainly an option, but that isn't in my DNA. A fight tomorrow is just as likely to bring on the insults and the troll labeling and the ban threats as a fight today, as far as I can see. | ||

What leads to problems like we are seeing here is when behavior becomes incessantly disagreeable, not mere opinion. When one cannot post without attacking others, it is a problem. When one posts blatant falsehood, yet fails to muster the integrity to acknowledge correction (truth), it is a problem. When one refuses to cease hateful personal commentary and rejoin thoughtful discussion of actual topical issues, that too is problematic. I think most actual judges would have found you in contempt long ago; they may even be hypocrites, but their authority is simply unassailable. Your lack of respect for the authority here is not much different than if you were acting out in a court room contrary to judges instructions. Likewise, there is only so much disrespect, rebellion, and venom that the authority here is willing to tolerate. If you don't like the authority here, then you are free to avoid the place. If you imagine that I enjoy this complete and total waste of my time, you couldn't be more wrong. I HATE it! I don't use that word lightly, never concerning people. The vast, vast, nearly unanimous majority of the 20,000+ folks registered on BadWeB have somehow managed to participate here without being seen as problematic by custodians. City, given what I've derived from his escapades, has a willingness to use the "gift of non-noticabilitly," which makes it less likely to be a target. It's just that your reason for wanting to help is not the most appropriate. You do from what I recall have a pretty good demeanor. Probably better than mine. We've had left leaning custodians before, and the current group includes a diversity of views. Only a few of us are vocal about them. I can't really say what the leanings are of a number of my fellow custodians. That really doesn't factor into the qualifications at all. Integrity and character are primary. Rocketman was once a custodian. He was about as left as you get. Dave Gess used to custodialize. Bomber too, remember him? He's ignoring us, but I'm gunning for him next time he heads this way. Froggy, and Ed Z? I have no idea of their politics. I know the Frog Man hates carburetors and is an atheist. Ed may be from another planet, not entirely sure, some kind of massive galactic empire, so he must be far right. When it comes to individual people, generalized labeling falls short. Lots of folks like to characterize me of being far right. That's tough to reconcile with some of my libertarian views. I think the war on drugs is foolish. I think that capital punishment should be reserved for a much high level of evildoers and evidence. I think the compensation and golden parachutes of CEOs of large corporations have run amuck and that they need to be held more accountable. I agree on the need for a minimum wage that can support a person. I'm a huge environmentalist, but I think jail is a better approach than neck deep piles of gov't regulation. Seriously harm the environment? Go to prison. Simple. Blah blah blah... you get my point. | ||

Justin, The nonsense is personal commentary. I see I had a typo and typed "to" instead of the intended "too". Maybe that caused the confusion. If you are up for explaining the constitutional issue, that would be best rejoined in the original thread where it came up. I'm drawing a blank on that at the moment.
