Froggy, My dad's new 1970 AMC Hornet with a 304 came with those tires. That light weight car would absolutely sizzle them from a dead stop! When I started driving I had to make sure to wipe the rubber off the quarter panels and drive it around enough corners to wear off the melted tread! I got to find the old Uniroyal Tiger Paw commercials from the 60's. |

This and my last set of Michelin pilot power(2ct rear) my 1125r has become mysteriously ill handling at 2,000 miles. My first set of PP went well over 3,000 miles. My next set of tires are Avon, and it won't be ridden till they're on. The PP's still look cherry, but they just quit working. Everything else checks out, in fact I just had my front end serviced less than 1,000 miles ago. |

...I had to make sure to wipe the rubber off the quarter panels and drive it around enough corners to wear off the melted tread! LOL! I've been running Bridgestones for a while. I had a set of the sporting BT014's on the X1 a while ago and I really liked them a lot - stable but at the same time fast turning, and heaps of feedback about the road surface, they were very confidence inspiring. Mileage was good for a sports tire and they never really squared off, but I decided to try the sport-touring BT021's next. I try to change both tires at the same time when I can. When I went to get the BT021's they had no front in stock and I reluctantly agreed to a BT015 front / BT021 rear which the shop recommended (sticky front, long wearing rear). I should have known better, every time I've mixed tires before it never seems quite right. Although very agile the bike has lost that stable feeling and feels a bit more twitchy. (Note to self: Don't EVER mix tires again, even from the same brand.) Feedback is reasonable, they take a bit longer to warm up than the 014's did. Mileage is definitely better than the 014's as expected but the rear is starting to square off at about 4,000 miles (I use the X1 for commuting as well as fun ). I put a set of the sporting BT016's on the 1125R and they are very impressive, though I don't like them as much as the 014's. They don't do the stable but agile trick as well, but they do feel really planted when leaned over. I did a track day on saturday and they were really good and didn't wear as much as I thought they would (must push harder next time!). The X1 will need a set in a while, I haven't decided between sport or sport-touring yet. I'd like to try some Michelins, but Pirelli Angels are also a thought. |

I run Pirelli angels on my B-King and love them. Stick like glue in the twisties, and last OK. Actually nothing lasts well on the back of this beast. |

I am loving my Pirelli Angels also. I have tried dunlaps and they were well dunlaps. Then the Pilots which OK but still wanted something to last more miles. The Angels have just shy of 5K on them and they are looking like new, handle great and are by FAR the best tire I have run on wet pavement. |

I can't say much about full sport tires because I use sport-touring. Here is my opinion after using : dunlops, bridgestone,Pirelli and continental. Pirelli FTW |

I've been doing some messing around with the suspension settings on the 1125R this week and I'm rethinking my statement that I like the earlier BT014's better, the 016's can do the agile and stable trick. (I'm also liking the 1125R a LOT more now ) For those who have the Angels, how do you think they'd do at a track day on an X1? |

Avon.... then Metzeler(SP?) I've used continental, dunlops, pirelli, metzeler and avon (even a chen shing when I was broke as hell one time ugh) Avon makes a great tire imho, esp venom, they handle great, ride nice and give me good confidence in bad weather. |

I pretty much liked the Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs that come on the 09 1125R until I did the ride up to Laguna Seca this year that involved freeways, nice backroad sweepers and some tight twisties. They went from great handling to spooky on that trip. Here's why: It seems like all the freeway driving we have to do in SoCal had worn a flat spot in the center of the rear to where if setting up for turns in the twisties, the tire would lean off the flat contact patch (~ 2' wide) to a relatively small radius'd patch (~ 1/2" wide) before it would get to the broader shoulder of the tread. This sometimes would result in the tire side slipping momentarily causing a "What the F...!" pucker moment. And after a few of these in a row, I lost the confidence I had in that tire and resorted to riding like it might wash out in any turn. In hindsight, the tire was worn but it wasn't down to the wear bars before starting out. After I got home though, it took one round trip to Riverside from LAX to show some steel cords. I think I might try Angels next. Hmm, Diablo or Angel |
