Made a quick trip to Port Elgin, ON via Toronto the end of last week. The drive between Toronto and Port Elgin is somewhat over 200 kilometers. Weather was magnificent and bikes everywhere. One question however, the top speed limit I saw was 80 kilometers per hour. That's slightly under 50 miles per hour. Most of the drive was straight line low rolling hill two lane but a portion was four lane. Anyone know the reason for this relatively low speed limit? |

I've driven a lot in ON, between Niagara and Detroit/Port Huron. The highest I've seen it, through some desolate 4-lane farm country was 100km/h, which is about 61-62mph. Seems everyone goes much faster, though. |

In 1998, my friend and I rode our S3s from Niagara to Detroit. At one point, we were running in the middle of a pack of about 7 or 8 cars, and we were all going close to 95MPH (not KPH). We passed a parked OPP car, and I thought we were screwed; but he didn't come after us. For a long time, I thought Canada was a little relaxed about speed enforcement; however, I'd hate to be proven wrong. (Message edited by Crusty on August 08, 2011) |

Most of the towns with more than one traffic signal had posted speed limits of 30 kilometers per hour. That's 18.64 miles per hour. |

No wonder they (Canadian vistors) drive so slow when they come to Florida. |
