Most of the $1 a year companies are gone Notably Studebaker and Packard. The Russian won the war on Studebaker trucks. The Famed Mustang had aPackard engine. Corporations have one Mission ROI for the stock holders how they conduct themselves is important but dont hate them for doing what they are supposed to do. |

So I just saw that Moody's kept our credit rating at AAA but changed the outlook for the USA to negative. That's a pretty solid warning that we are heading in a bad direction. I've found businessmen to be as patriotic as the next guy. The problem is that they can't compete with overseas manufactures for reasons of wages, taxes and environmental rules just to name a few. Then the consumer goes to the store and is unwilling to pay 2% more for something that is made in the US. Who has been unpatriotic? The corporation is simply faced with a choice of going out of business or going out of the country. The consumer is faced with a choice of paying slightly more to keep our country healthy. One is a real choice, the other is a move of necessity. |

The whole purpose of the 14th amendment's first clause was to confer citizenship, and thus voting rights and others, upon all the recently freed slaves, thus overturning the Dred Scott decision. It's intent has been manipulated by those who insist that the constitution is a "living document" and subject to whatever interpretation fits their current agenda. |

Those who snag the really good jobs out of college, the shiney winners from our Ivy League puppy mills, are often well trained in the post war socialist vibe. Wall Street superheros vote Dem. Wild guess of the day: Jeffrey Immelt votes Dem. How many captains of industry are just like him, using Immelt as a role model for their own careers. As they crap in their own rice bowl, expect smaller companies with innovation to garner traction toward the big poker table. |

Char, being unemployed and watching the tube you will probably start to notice the same actors in different commercials. haha... drives my gf nuts when I say... "Hey thats the guy from the *** commercial!! "AND" he is the same guy thats in the *** commercial!!" I do like the girl in the 3-d samsung commercial, where her dad slams the ping pong ball at her for the 3D effect. She is going places. |

Since 2000 do you realize how much the US private sector has grown? Hardly at all. And how many new jobs have been created? I'll give you a hint. Think of a number with a hole in the middle of it. Zero. And how many more automobiles do we sell in America? In fact, we sell nearly a third less than we did 10 years ago. And how much more are our stocks worth? Adjusted for inflation...not a penny more. How about houses? Again, adjust for inflation and the average house is worth less than it was in 2001. Zero to negative growth and zero to negative value over the last decade. Hey congress, do any of you realize that YOU cannot run an economy? Go home, don't use or answer the phone. Let nature take it's course. |

If I still owned my company . . . and the idiots who were making the rules couldn't tell me what they were past Thanksgiving . . . you'd have to hold a gun to my head to make me hire. With all the hooopla of the last week . . . I think some folks missed the little "correction" in the economic figures The White House announced. When you have 0.04% growth . . baby you are FLAT LINE. Worse yet is when you have it . . don't know it . . can't get your numbers straight and spend a month bragging about how you "turned around the mess you inherited". Idiots. Pure and simple. |

Mox, That's not quite right. There was growth in the total employment from the end of 2003 to the begin of the fall January 2008. We are back were we started at the end of 2003, but we gave back about 8,000,000 jobs. Our economy needs to grow at a minimum rate of 3.2% annually just to keep up with population growth. Consider this as you hear the news regarding the growth rate of the economy. I think the most recent growth rate was just over 1%. |

I never thought that I would live to see the day that the leader of Russia would call America a pox and a parasite on the world capitalist economy, a drain of proportions that he is recommending the abandonment of the US Dollar as the trade increment; the new 'credit' rating, the unemployment, the inflation, the entitlements. We just got Biatch Slapped by the Former Soviet Union - and Putin is dead to rights correct. Maybe we could get David Hasselhoff to dance and sing on the Whitehouse lawn, bring that palace down. |

I stand corrected . . . the market was not down 1,000 points the last week . . it was only down 850 points in 8 days. I'm not sure I like the big o''s idea of "turning the economy around". Clueless. Absolutely clueless. Interesting that he said it's time "we all start paying our fair share". The folks with in the top 25% of income earners are paying 86% of all taxes in the USA. The lower 51% of wager earners paid ZERO income taxes. I think I may agree with the big o . . it's time those lazy folks making $30,000 per year stepped up and made a fair and equitable contribution. This national sales tax is interesting. It'd be very cool if you didn't pay on your INCOME but rather on CONSUMPTION. I buy a motorcycle . . I pay sales tax. Someone pays a cell phone bill . . or buys cigarettes or rolling papers . . they pay sales tax. Couldn't be much fairer, eh? |

This FACT has been posted on Badweb multiple times and yet the people who suffer from Leftaroids NEVER respond to this. It would be refreshing to hear a defense for a change. I stand corrected. The sputum vomited out is about "the millionaires and the billionaires with their corporate jets...". How the F is it remotely fair that 51% of income earners pay ZERO taxes? The only logical explanations are the deliberate promotion of class warfare or plain old fashioned ignorance. Or the understandable desire to get "free" pizza. |

According to Rocco, the wealthy are hoarding money and not paying fair wages to the bottom 51%. Therefore, the higher taxes the wealthiest 25% pay are on the money they earned as well as the unfair money they hoarded. Make sense? Since all income comes from unfair employment and labor practices of the wealthy, why tax the bottom 51%? The government is now acting as the ultimate collective bargaining organization. A union wouldn't confiscate income from the members to give back to the members. It MUST confiscate it from the company. The current system isn't fair enough. The system won't be fair until the top 75%, 80%, 90% are paying ALL the taxes and the control of all the capital rests with the "union". |

The reason that Associated Independent Recordings (Sir George Martin) set up the studios in Montserrat to record the likes of Clapton, Elton John, Sting was the confiscatory tax structure in England that made it so attractive to locate the AIR studios "offshore." (as a scuba diver, Montserrat is on my near-term plans - and escorts ARE available to take folks into the Plymouth hot-zone) Studio along with most of Plymouth, Montserrat was severely damaged by hurricane Hugo and the volcanic eruption in 1995 |

He's not even a good Marxist. He couldnt shadow box his way out of a Dialectic Argument if his life depended on it. why.... because he is a lawyer at best, not an economist, not a political scientist, not socialogist, not an historian and certainly not responsible for anything other than sitting at the desk and living in the house. It is on par with attempting to get a guided tour of the city, from the elevator operator. Sure hes heard of the city, but his world is a tiny box, with doors that are mostly closed. |

I'm guessing that Jeremy meant to write (sarcastically) that "the system won't be fair until the top 25%, 20%, 10% are paying ALL the taxes and the control of all the capital rests with the 'union'." Almost every policy I see enacted by the Obama administration is one that further harms America. His global apology tour to start. The near trillion dollar stimulus. Extending unemployment benefits through three *#$%ing years. The bailout of GM, punishing bond holders while gifting shares to the union. The rammed down our throats, 100% partisan, corrupt/kickback and waiver-laden, "gotta pass it to know whats in it" affordable health care act. Ending American oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. Prohibiting oil production in ANWAR. Declaring that carbon dioxide is a pollutant. Refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage act. Seeking to prosecute al qaeda leaders in civilian courts. Cash for clunkers. Killing our Space Shuttle program and moon mission programs. How many jobs did that wipe out? Moron! Directing the head of NASA to help muslims feel better about themselves. Telling Israel to cease building in existing housing developments. I despise the man as President. I honestly believe that on numerous counts he is a traitor to our constitution as it was intended by its authors. He's arrogant, thin skinned, a pathological liar, and a complete and utter blind ideologue who bemoans the form of our very constitution. He needs to be impeached. Refusing to cut entitlement programs while killing the Space Shuttle, the moon mission, and reducing the annual DOD budget by 10%. Accepting operations under no budget for over two years under the Dem controlled congress. It is an outrage. Increasing our debt by multiple trillions of dollars in just two years. |

Clankity clank, clink, clank, clunk. The juggernaut of American business is being rolled over a cliff in a shortcut to the scrapyard of history. Unbelievable. Utterly. No exports to speak of to offset debt. No hope. A severe change for the worse. Historians will tell the tale. Obama can't escape having his stink on the deal revealed to future generations. |

I think the end of the space shuttle program was decided before the "O" became the second coming . That's true, but wasn't there supposed to be a replacement system that BO killed? Personally I find manned space travel to be a loser, so I really don't fault BO for this one item. I saw an article last week where there was already talk of scrapping the space station. I think the date was supposed to be 2013. Considering the expense and how long it took to build, that seems like a very short life span. |
