Oh crap Neil. You opened a can of worms now. Everyone knows jobs come from huge tax cuts and trickle down economics. You know. The one that has worked so well since the Reagan regime.

Off topic, what the heck were you doing in Honduras?

Evidently saving up to pollute Facebook with endless back to back pictures.

My wife scolded me. Publicly.

I took my wife, my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter to the town of El Progresso to volunteer time helping do some facilities upkeep at the Copprome orphanage (painting, repairing shutters, playing with the kids). We also worked with a village called Mt. Olivos made up of residents of a shanty town displaced by the city government and left out in the boonies without any food, water, or means of support.

We worked to dig a well, install water lines, haul a 1000 gallon gravity feed tank to the top of a 60ft water tower, and help them to dig irrigation ditches for a soon to be planted lettuce farm.

Over the next year we hope to return to help each of the 32 families to build permanent structures and develop a means of industry. If they can prove they can be economically self sufficient, the catholic church who owns the land on which they currently live will deed them their current plot of land. It'll be the first time any of them have owned any property.

Char you can create a Job. I worked my way up in a company had all the perks. One day they decided to quit Like Buell with less warning were all out of a job.
That was at 8 am by 11am I had two trucks on the road and was up and running in business that was sept 21 1987 I have had as many as 48 employees and as few as 2. UTC called me last week to build a new turbo combustor pump complex and the local natural gas company wants their headquarters redesigned and replaced.
My problem is worker quality not lack of work. A job we just completed has customers of Daikin coming from all over the world to see it. It is the latest in Leeds and vrv heat recovery technology.
No one gave me a job I created the organization and trained the people. In this economy I have 6 month back log of work to get into design phase. We dont do plan and spec work we do forensic and design build work. You can create a job if you want to.

I put up on the other thread what I am working on right now... Certified Hazardous Materials Manager... if my second to last boss would quit sitting on my paperwork... bast*rd.

Also Emergency Management coursework from ***GASP*** one of the Federal agencies that used to exist before it got gutted by Bush II.

I answered your questions honestly Fatty. I am done with the patronizing tone you seem to enjoy to direct towards me.

That is nice you have compassion for poor/ underadvantaged people in other countries. All people really want in the US is the same compassion for some of us Americans who have been royally f*cked by the corporate/ big banking/ profit hungry hospital-drug company systems.

NO not pity or poor me... I have already won because I have survived going to hell and back... and hell again and back.

I had ten weeks of total joy on my trip... which, by the way was paid for from my own savings I made at my previous job.

It hasn't killed me yet, so it probably won't.

I have had some public assistance in my life, and I will always feel a debt to society for that... but I have never expected a man or any one else to pay my bills. This November will mark 20 years of trying to get out of medical debt. I was so freakin damn close too when I got layed off again.

I wasn't trying to be patronizing, but rather to bring the level of hostility down a notch.

I believe you impugned my beliefs without provocation. I didn't retaliate. I merely asked for calm and concentration. I'm not trying to play a game of gotcha. I really am trying to have a discussion. I believe that there is a general misunderstanding regarding jobs and how they are "created".

I will add a basic definition to the discussion:

Job: A unit of market labor necessary to bring a product or products to market

Would you define a job differently?

PS, my family was on public assistance for a short time when I was young. I don't begrudge those who use public assistance for what it was intended.

Audit Of The Federal Reserve Reveals $16 Trillion In Secret Bailouts

This is why the super-rich need to pay more taxes. The super-rich own the banks, scare the politicians, then take the money.

The first ever GAO(Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill(HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out. Ben Bernanke, Alan Greenspan, and various other bankers vehemently opposed the audit and lied to Congress about the effects an audit would have on markets. Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve’s nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander’s webpage earlier this morning.

What was revealed in the audit was startling: $16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and foreign banks everywhere from France to Scotland. From the period between December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations, and governments. The Federal Reserve likes to refer to these secret bailouts as an all-inclusive loan program, but virtually none of the money has been returned and it was loaned out at 0% interest. Why the Federal Reserve had never been public about this or even informed the United States Congress about the $16 trillion dollar bailout is obvious — the American public would have been outraged to find out that the Federal Reserve bailed out foreign banks while Americans were struggling to find jobs.

To place $16 trillion into perspective, remember that GDP of the United States is only $14.12 trillion. The entire national debt of the United States government spanning its 200+ year history is “only” $14.5 trillion. The budget that is being debated so heavily in Congress and the Senate is “only” $3.5 trillion. Take all of the outrage and debate over the $1.5 trillion deficit into consideration, and swallow this Red pill: There was no debate about whether $16,000,000,000,000 would be given to failing banks and failing corporations around the world.

In late 2008, the TARP Bailout bill was passed and loans of $800 billion were given to failing banks and companies. That was a blatant lie considering the fact that Goldman Sachs alone received 814 billion dollars. As is turns out, the Federal Reserve donated $2.5 trillion to Citigroup, while Morgan Stanley received $2.04 trillion. The Royal Bank of Scotland and Deutsche Bank, a German bank, split about a trillion and numerous other banks received hefty chunks of the $16 trillion.

“This is a clear case of socialism for the rich and rugged, you’re-on-your-own individualism for everyone else.” – Bernie Sanders(I-VT)

When you have conservative Republican stalwarts like Jim DeMint(R-SC) and Ron Paul(R-TX) as well as self identified Democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders all fighting against the Federal Reserve, you know that it is no longer an issue of Right versus Left. When you have every single member of the Republican Party in Congress and progressive Congressmen like Dennis Kucinich sponsoring a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, you realize that the Federal Reserve is an entity onto itself, which has no oversight and no accountability.

Americans should be swelled with anger and outrage at the abysmal state of affairs when an unelected group of bankers can create money out of thin air and give it out to megabanks and supercorporations like Halloween candy. If the Federal Reserve and the bankers who control it believe that they can continue to devalue the savings of Americans and continue to destroy the US economy, they will have to face the realization that their trillion dollar printing presses can be stopped with five dollars worth of bullets.

The list of institutions that received the most money from the Federal Reserve can be found on page 131 of the GAO Audit and are as follows..

Citigroup: $2.5 trillion ($2,500,000,000,000)
Morgan Stanley: $2.04 trillion ($2,040,000,000,000)
Merrill Lynch: $1.949 trillion ($1,949,000,000,000)
Bank of America: $1.344 trillion ($1,344,000,000,000)
Barclays PLC (United Kingdom): $868 billion ($868,000,000,000)
Bear Sterns: $853 billion ($853,000,000,000)
Goldman Sachs: $814 billion ($814,000,000,000)
Royal Bank of Scotland (UK): $541 billion ($541,000,000,000)
JP Morgan Chase: $391 billion ($391,000,000,000)
Deutsche Bank (Germany): $354 billion ($354,000,000,000)
UBS (Switzerland): $287 billion ($287,000,000,000)
Credit Suisse (Switzerland): $262 billion ($262,000,000,000)
Lehman Brothers: $183 billion ($183,000,000,000)
Bank of Scotland (United Kingdom): $181 billion ($181,000,000,000)
BNP Paribas (France): $175 billion ($175,000,000,000)
and many many more including banks in Belgium of all places

Rocket, I suspect i agree with you on Gay marriage. Niagara falls is cashing in right now! Quite the little economy boost. It's quite touching. Tradition, and I'm sure the Victorian Gardens are lovely this year.

Char, my point is the taxes, however you gather them, are limited. I agree they are not gathered "fairly". We can have a whole argument on that subject alone. Might even agree on most things.

But because the resources are in the real world limited, you can't have everything.
Government can't Do everything. Spending so much more than they "earn" eventually tanks. It's tank time. I've posted Bill Whittle's "eat the rich" video here or you can find it on youtube. It's biased, but makes a point.

final analysis.

Government can't possibly take everyones wealth and distribute it equally, without more than half being lost in the process.
That's just the built in cost of paying all those people to take, count, and decide how to spend your money. And the people who clean the bathrooms in their office building. And the cost of the office building to hold the people to count your money.

In the U.S. Federal tax dollars for social programs get to they person that needs them with only about 22 cents left. ( or 42 cents in a different study. )

26,000 people won't have jobs because of the Boeing/NLRB action. Over a million people have been hired into govt service in the last 2 years. We are at record levels of food stamp use.

The Debt will equal the GDP this year.

It is requested by this admin that spending money they don't have will double the debt in 5 years and triple it in 10. Can't happen.

One of the leading corporate exporter of jobs is General Electric.

The greatest exporter of jobs, though is the Internal Revenue Service.

Ditto on the rude.

I see no activity amongst our Washington brethren to help the middle class, with careers, not just mortgage help, or extended unenjoyment. We are creating a middle class in China and South America, etc. Nothing for the Tea Party types who understand that the powers that be have given to the poor, accommodated the wealthy, & are seemingly not capable of restoring a business environment to include middle class jobs.

I believe I have changed sides in this debate. Now is the time to really soak the rich. The particular rich are the fat cat bankers our Federal Reserve loaned 16 trillion dollars too. I propose that the Federal Reserve loan no new money until this is returned. Their sole function for the next ten years is to return 1.6 trillion dollars to the treasury each and every year.

With this simple step our debt crisis is averted with no congressional action. I believe President Obama can issue an executive order directing this action. In ten years the world will be a vastly different place and new solutions will need to be found for the problems which will crop up.

I would like a 1% finder fee for this solution.

I agree w/ recompense for the fat cat theft to pay bonuses for screwing the rest of us. It's simply immoral. I'm all for the right to earn an above average income, feel that I've been able to do that for the last 40 years. However, Wall Street continually rigs the game. How can we place retirement bets through investments or IRAs or whatever, with jackals who won't tell us how their game is rigged in favor of the house, with rules allowed by our congressional representatives? It's okay with me if these large banking houses fail. Let 'em eat cake, or out of a dumpster. Rebuild the middle class or suffer with them.

I'd go with Madducks plan...except If they had that extra .2 trillion over the 1.4 deficit they wouldn't pay down the debt. IMHO. I bet you that finders fee they do at least a trillion deficit if they had that 1.6T.

Why? Cloward-Pivven? Sociopathic addiction to spending? Burning need to have bridges named after them? Pick your own answer, but it's observed fact.

Ft_ while I appreciated the historical part of us electing a Black Prez, I just wanted it to be Condi Rice. My opinions on the neocons have changed over time... but She's still prettier.
