Thanks Mark. My best to you, your Mom and your family. ******************** This is kinda fun, and I thought worthy of a "rerun" here on the board. I posted this pic of Ma Bueller earlier in the thread... ...and here's MaB herself explaining the circumstances of the photo: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=4062&post=2040014#POST2040014 Alas, this might be her last post on BWB. A million thanks to all of you who have taken the time to mail her something since we started this deal. I'm sure you can imagine what a treat it is for Mom to hear from y'all. FB |

Wow, I used to spend a lot of time in Pt. Roberts, sometimes on a bike, dining and dancing in Vancouver. Ma is bringing back some good memories. |

Ma is bringing back some good memories. And at some point, memories are about all that's left.

Hello all, Doug here. We're at the Hospice Center with Mom and it's Sunday afternoon. Sandy stayed the night last night because Mom wasn't doing well and didn't want to be alone. Sandy has been an absolute angel with Mom. Don't know what I (or Mom) would do without her. The cards and letters just keep coming in. Sandy put together a binder of incoming mail. Mom has received well wishes from all over the United States, Germany, Australia, and Buellerville. She has received e-mails, pictures, fancy cards, plain cards, funny cards, serious cards, candy, nuts, and other edible and non-edible treats. Mom has has some struggles this past week and went through episodes that she wasn't sure where she was or who we were. Discouraging to say the least, but she has had wonderful care at the Hospice Center and the encouragement of you all and your support networks. Thank you once again for your love and well wishes. Hugs, Doug Bro Doug and MaB |

Good morning Family, Last night Mom asked that we take her outside for a "walk". Albeit hard to believe, the evening was warm and beautiful in the Pacific NorthWET. So... Sue and I got her tucked into a wheelchair, bundled her up, and headed down the hall to make our escape from the Hospice Center into the wild blue. We smelled the flowers, basked in the sun, picked (and ate) blackberries, and enjoyed a great evening in the out of doors. Mom thoroughly loved the adventure and seemed to feel much better after her "Vitamin D therapy". She was just plain tuckered out from the excitement and berry picking (we picked, she ate) so we tucked her in and left her in the very capable hands of the Hospice folks for the night. I have attached a couple of pictures taken during our evening trek. Hoping they cooperate with your computer. Hugs, Doug

Hello Family & Friends, This is Doug on Mom's computer giving you an update on the life & times of Ma Bueller. Much of what I share tonight will be repetitive, but no news is simply no news. The cards and letters from around the globe just keep coming. I'm impressed and humbled by the well wishes. In the hustle and bustle of daily life I find it very difficult to stay on top of the cards and letters to family.... those that I know. A bunch of awesome folks from around the world who have never met Mom (and many others who have) have taken the time from their busy schedules to send her greetings and love. As I said, I'm humbled and impressed by the caliber of folks who frequent BadWeB, or ride, or know my Brother Jerry (Ferris) and his awesome bride Denise. Know that your cards and letters are thankfully received and tremendously appreciated. As I mentioned before, Sandy created a three ring binder to organize the well wishes in chronological order so that daily visitors to her hospice room can read and review her latest love notes. Cool.....very cool. Mom is getting a haircut tomorrow and is excited to have a bit of a fuss made over her. Sandy continues to be her best buddy and guardian angel. Cancer creates an interesting and loving bond. We're getting ready to tuck Mom in for the night, she just received her meds and is fading fast. Hi All!! This is Sue....... Mom/Marilois/Mel/Auntie M/Grandma J/Ma Bueller's daughter!!!! What can you do, you ask? :-) Send a piece of mail to Mom/Marilois/Mel/Auntie M/Grandma J/Ma Bueller!!!! She is struggling with sending emails.......... I'm sure mostly because she is so doped up on morphine, methadone, larazascam and other names I can't spell or pronounce. Mel can look at her incoming emails (with some help from us support peeps), but receiving some snail mail to open would be greatly welcome! Send a card, send a picture, send a little bobble, send a flower, send a cookie, send a hug!!! And then send another one!!!! The mailing address for her is: Hospice of Kitsap County ATTN: Marilois "Mel" Johnson, Room 103 570 Lebo Blvd Bremerton, WA 98310 Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!! |

8-19-2011 Mom received two....count 'em, two motorcycle wind chimes today from Pamela Owen Brown, Cycle Rama, Inc, in Pinellas Park, Florida. They are very unique and beautiful. One of the wind chimes currently resides in Mom's Hospice room window. Thanks and hugs to Pamela, you made Mom's day. Mom also received a large envelope from K "Moxnix" Hettinger who lives in St. Louis. The envelope contained pictures, and a couple pieces of Italian & Brazilian currency. Also in the envelope were two decal type stickers from the Bonneville Salt Flats. The instructions were simple, put the small one on Mom's wheelchair and send the other one to brother Jerry (Ferris). The letter that accompanied the package stated that the Salt Flats sticker will "make Mom's wheelchair roll faster". We're going to put it to the test.... pictures along with copies of the accident report to follow. Hope you all have a great weekend. Hugs, Doug Haughton Pammy and Moxnix, you (and all the rest of BWB) rock!! Thanks a million!!! FB&D |

Ma Bueller & Family, Looking for things to send got me out into the garage to do the "sorting and cleaning" my wife has been suggesting for years. So, I go through boxes and find the remnants of my own journey through life and around the world, the ups, the downs, the "stop and think about this" trinket or photo moments, finding little pieces of flotsam and jetsam that washed themselves up on my section of life's beach, both the paradise with an ocean view section along with the stretch of rocks along the struggles and challenges portions. It's all good. My wife is happy about the garage being clean, too. All our best, Moxnix |

8-28-2011 Hello Family and friends, Once again it's Sunday at the Hospice Center and we're here visiting Mom. Sissy Sue just left for work and Mom is sleeping. Sandy has been Mom's buddy and helper through thick and thin, both at home and at the Hospice Center. We all continue to meet people at Hospice that we know, visitors and nurses alike. My hope was that by now we would have a picture of Mom scooting across the parking lot with her Bonneville Salt Flats sticker attached to her wheelchair, wavy white hair flapping in the breeze and smoke coming off the wheelchair tires. The sticker, along with pictures and a letter, were sent by Moxnix with instructions to attach the sticker to her wheelchair, as it will improve the performance. Unfortunately we're going to have to wait to put it to the test; Mom simply isn't feeling up to a trek outside right now and the Hospice staff takes issue with wheelchair races down the hallways. Don't ask us how we know... Each day seems to be a bit different with her "mentations." About the time you think she's not aware of what's happening around her she'll make a funny. A quiet funny, but a funny nevertheless. We are with her each day, and it's hard to watch her struggle with the cancer. The Hospice staff endeavors to keep her pain free and that's a real blessing, although when she's heavily medicated the communications suffer significantly. When we ask the nurses to give us a dose of Mom's meds they just laugh....and Mom won't share. Each day is a special day. We'll keep you all posted on her condition. Thank you again for your cards, letters, and visits. Love & hugs, Doug MaB and FB, June 2011 |

I have more if you need another. Was out picking through things to send off to Ma. Does she have a particular magazine she enjoys, or any special requests? Does she like audio books at all? |
