Are there any discount codes that we can get by being Badweb members on Erik Buell Racing.com? |

I will personally give you a $20 rebate if you purchase a new Erik Buell Racing 1190RS (provided you let me ride it around the block once). |

Although I am as interested in a discount as the next guy, maybe seeking discounts is part of the reason there has been almost a 2 year hiatus in Buell production. Sometimes the price is the price necessary to keep the company in existence. In the case of Erik Buell Racing, it's the price necessary to bring a company INTO existence. |

They have had sales in the past with coupon codes, but nothing in recent memory. |

badweb memebers get a discount on Erik Buell Racing prices? i'd think that badweb members are pretty much THE customers of Erik Buell Racing. ... so no, you can't give a discount to EVERYONE. it wouldn't really be a discounted price then, would it? |

Bingo! I had expressed to me by one of the sales guys that he hated dealing with Buell people because the first thing out of their mouths was how much off the price. A lot of truth to that statement. I'm as guilty as the next guy. |

I can be a price wh0re... but I'll do my research first then go beat up the guy I want to give my money to. If I know someone in the business of whatever I'm looking for I usually will get it from then, no questions asked |

I had expressed to me by one of the sales guys that he hated dealing with Buell people because the first thing out of their mouths was how much off the price. but you know as well as i do that doesnt only pertain to the buell guys. i get hit up nonstop by the harley guys for discounts. when i ask why they give me an odd look and say, well because im here, or because i bought a bike here(sometimes 10+ damn years ago). how many other places do people walk into and first thing ask about their discount. i cant think of many. try that at walmart once. i bet they will look at you like your stupid. ive gotten really good at getting around the discount thing unless i feel there is a need for that person to get one, as in, we have inconvenienced them in someway, or they buy plenty of stuff from me and never whine about the price or complain in general. i like those people and i give them a break on stuff simply because i can. if they treat me well, i try to treat them well. if they come in bitching at me about the price or whatever it may be and treating me like crap, there is no way they get a break. every discount i give actually DOES come out of my pocket. earn it. |

I agree Tim. I love the "I'm buying a new Harley, I should get a new FREE helmet to match, right." I suspect, though, that the average margin sold on a Harley is higher than on a Buell. |

I love the "I'm buying a new Harley, I should get a new FREE helmet to match, right." Why would HD give helmets to pirates? Head scarfs and wallet chains....maybe. |

I want the Erik Buell Racing coupon code that adds $20 to my purchase price, and sends the money to fund more testing time for Geoff May on the 1190! Put it up there, I need some tank stickers! |

maybe because they have a helmet law in that state? truth-be-told - my father purchased two motorcycles (new) from a particular dealership. I bought one (1125) they had a new helmet law go into effect here in NC a few years ago (we always were required to wear a helmet, but this one was about amount of padding/protection etc). So we went up in early december with a family friend so that he could purchase a new motorcycle, while there the salesman gave my father a giftcard for more than enough to purchase a helmet for him and his long-time girlfriend. They still had a bit leftover so i bought some buell stuff. The family friend got a new lid as well so yes, they do, sometimes, give out free helmets. |

I'm with Tim. After working many years behind the counter, good customers got "gifts" in many ways. On small part"Ah,just take it". Performance catalog parts-discount. Not everybody got their car unlocked for free, car picked up and delivered, or ten minute service work for free. We ate a lot of warranty work that wasn't covered for good customers too. They all come back with their check book open........ |

I got another of my favorites today, and shut him right down. "Do you offer a Law Enforcement discount?" Um...sure. As soon as you come up with a wallet-size get out of jail free / discount on speeding tickets card that's honored by every LEO in the nation, I'll get you that discount. I appreciate LEOs and what they do - it's an honorable job and certainly not for everyone. But I hate to think that EVERY SINGLE COP took the job so they can get discounts on stuff. But so far in my life, EVERY SINGLE COP has asked me for a discount on whatever I'm selling. Including trailer sway control equipment. |

Leos yep We were selling generators during the 2004-5 storms in fla. We sold them for the same mark ups we did before. standard Item for us. One of the county leos wanted his leo discount my dad was working the warehouse alone and told me this guy wanted a generator @ a price less than we paid for them. And was threatening to shut us down for profiteering. He was waiting for me to get back yelling and fussing all in uniform tell customers he was shutting us down. Yeah right stopped by the SO office explained the issue and that I was calling FDLE to handle the isue if they didnt. The IA guys had fun with this yahoo. We found out later this guy bought a Class A motor home on his Amex card used it for vacation and snuck it in the dealers lot left it and disputed the sale. So the dealer had a used 7k mile motor home on his lot registered to the leo and the cost of said motorhome back charged out of his account. I have family that are leos they are cheap |

Nothing wrong with asking. We go through the list AAA? Student? Military? Union? Middle aged bald white guy with goatee discount? Never hurts to ask. As far as the free helmet, shouldn't be to hard to negotiate a $150.00 helmet into a $20-30,000.00 bike. I got a free helmet with my first bike, if you want to call it that. I said I'll give you $3000 out the door with a helmet. |

Hahahaha . . . I'm having all the fun in the world now . . .Erik is doing all the work, about the equivalent of 6 folks, and I get to sit back and watch. But . . and this is no surprise . . there are some GREAT stories being generated. Think about what's been done. Loose that "they just made some modifications to an 1125" mindset and really look at what happened. Not only did tons of work have to be done to come to the necessary arrangements to use the 1125 for a while . . but there were 111 NEW vendors, coughing up about 436 pieces that make about 900 part numbers. . . no mean feat, even in a 3 year development cycle. Not only did it require (NEARLY) a clean sheet to start with but think of all the relationships (and . yep, you'll eventually hear about the folks who hung up on Erik) that needed to be forged. Oh . . and at the same time . . design a website (thanks to a couple Badwebbers for lots of help there), spec computer systems (no matter how smart an engineer you are . . it's never "saving money" to build your own computer) and deal with expanding office/shop space 3 or 4 times in a year. Oh yeah . . somewhere in there ya gotta hire some folks . . get homologated in various countries . .deal with the EPA .. DOT and all those folks and what else? . . oh yeah . .build a motorcycle . . oh wait . .and race . . AFTER you spend weeks getting AMA paperwork in order . . not just for the bike but to substantiate that you are a bona fide manufacturer. Yep . . you could get a dandy. By the way . . the earthquake on Japan plays a MAJOR supporting role in at least one of the stories . . TGFE Thank goodness for Elves . . . once again . . the motorcycle only exists because of some amazing people. |

Wow... must have been a slow night with all those posts. I only asked because it had a place on there at checkout, it never hurts to ask. Just wait until our economy tanks and we have to go back to the barter system. Me thinks some people will go hungry. |

I don't get why anyone would begrudge someone for asking if any discounts apply. You can always say "no". Isn't that the point of capitalism? People ask because dealers have been giving them on certain products, and most of us have never paid sticker price for certain items. Anyone here feel guilty about asking a car dealer for a discount off of a car sticker price? If so, I'd like to sell you a car! |

Here's one I've used at Best Buy a few times in the last 2 weeks, saved me almost $100. Open the page on your phone, show it to the cashier, 10% off. http://m.bestbuy.com/mobile/coupons/Movercampaign- 2525062-HOME3.html?sid=00hc0041633939072611%2C8407 c46382df45b0a248c57b57278eff Good until Halloween. |

heck I am one of the first to go looking for a discount...in fact I cannot remember the last time I paid full price for an Item from a H-D dealer. I don't see any harm in this guy asking if there was a discount code floating around the web for E.B.R. since the web site does in fact have a place for one. A simple no would have done fine. I wish all the luck in the world to E.B.R. but if they do offer a discount on something I would take it if I needed said item. |
