I don't know this Murdoch fellow sounds pretty bad. Let me know when he knocks up one of his secretaries while his wife is being treated for a terminal illness.

Rupert Murdoch faces questioning from parliament tomorrow. And the Brits will televise it. Hopefully here in the U.S. we'll get to see it.

Supposedly here in the U.S. our own FBI is beginning to investigate the Murdoch organization.

Yes, well we would expect the current admin to toss cow chips on the fire if they believe it may somehow mean that any flies they find on Old Rupert can be used to bash Fox News.

I used to listen to Radio Moscow in Alaska 40 years ago. Sounded like the same pinkos on NPR this evening.

Let's hope our FBI investigates him with the same resolve they went after the Navy Seals who allegedly "slapped" a terrorist around.

I thank obama and holder for doing more to advance and protect the rights of terrorists and folks with ill will toward Americans than any politicians in history.

I am beginning to see why michelle obama was so embarrassed . . heck, it was the company she was keeping.

One of the dumbest analogies you've ever read? You must not read much. Of course you followed up with calling someone you've never met a piece of shit.

You say nothing for.... how long? Then, here comes Mr. Driveby himself.... like clockwork.

Court, Moxnix, can't you give your personal politics a rest for a moment?

Would you prefer that the British NOT question Murdoch, NOT televise it?

Would you prefer that the F.B.I. NOT investigate whether Murdoch's people hacked the cell phones of some of our own U.S. citizens, victims of 9/11, etc?

William Shakespeare wrote "Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows."

Or as we yanks say it: Politics makes for strange bedfellows.

When do you think Holder Obama etc are going to be questioned on Gunrunner? and Castaways the Tampa deliveries to MS13.
They should investigate if this was longer than 2 years or so and records will be hard to track most folks change phones like socks. In Britain if you think news papers are like the ones in the US they are pretty much like the Enquirer or the Weekly World news. The term fleet street hack has a special meaning in London.
If we are lucky Holder and obama will end up in prison. Suppling weapons to the cartels and Ms13 may not be treason but its real close. Either way prison should be in their future.

Read the thread . . no, no, no . . go back and read it again.

Find any post that does NOT have someone's personal politics?

Declare yourself enlightened and return to service.

Frankly . . I hope they find and prosecute every son of a bitch involved.

Then they can do like this sweet little girl in Florida who was declared "indigent" one day . . in order for you and I (actually the dummies in Florida) to pay all her legal bills and then started getting $1,000,000 offers for interviews the next day.

Ya gotta love it . . I hope the prediction that she'll be worth $25,000,000 a year from now is accurate . . then she too can get her wealth redistributed.

Hahahahahaha. . . politics has never been so fun!

Ah, come on. I haven't joined in any fray for quite awhile, so of course I add my personal spin. It's what I do. Or is it my uncontrollable inner imp? Some of us like to defend peace, justice and the American way, along with conservative values and the right to make money via the U.S. capitalist system. Which is being undermined by a certain dictator occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave along with his $100K & up legion of anti-capitalist minions on the in-house payroll.

Politics is fun. I like it best when a politician fears the loss of his protective walls of privilege. It they collapse around him, he finds himself no safer than the next man, exposed to the gaze of the world like a lying husband for his laxities and evasions.

I'm just a volunteer public scrutiny officer.

Court, Kenm123t, Moxnix,

This thread is about Rupert Murdoch and the possible crimes committed by people in his World News organization.

Why are you trying so hard to change the subject?

(That's a rhetorical question)

That's inaccurate. Go read the original post.

You'll find that it's not only poorly written (assuming the intent was Murdoch) it's not topical in that it's purpose was not to discuss Murdoch but to incite discussion about Fox.

To wit,

For those of you who don't know about this, get some news from somewhere other than Fox News. Anywhere else.

If you don't like it . . simply leave and promise to never come back. No reason you can't . . Rocco does it monthly.

Have you ever read the British tabloid press? Saucy snapshots and dirt on everone from royals to garden variety celebs. Of course they break the law sixteen ways from breakfast. News is a game and players cheat. Some are caught and punished.

News Corp shares have dropped 20 percent since this blew up two weeks ago. Over a billion dollars AUS gone from shares value. Out of the pockets of widows, orphans and other stock ownwers.

This isn't about being this week's public outrage. It's about power and money. That, plus sex, are the three cornerstones of life in 2011.

There is a lot of hot air and rubbish being spouted at the moment in addition to the 'facts' on the Murdoch/News International hacking scandal, so it is very hard to pick the wheat from the chaff.

Murdoch has had most UK politicians scared to make even the slightest criticism for years as he has controlled the UK press pretty tightly. Now that there is a chink in his armour it has turned into a feeding frenzy and every man and his dog can't wait to stick the knife in (these are the same people who supported him, courted him and attended his parties for years!).

Senior Police Officers have resigned without any real evidence to connect them to the scandal and there are calls for the Prime Minister to resign over this, which is a pretty sure sign it has been overblown!

For those who don't know the start of this story, the original phione hacking scandal has been brewing here since 2003 when News International were found to be hacking celebrities voice mails for gossip columns. However it was recently found that over 6000 people had been 'hacked' and the final straw was finding that murdered schoolgirl Mille Dowler had her cell phone voice mails hacked after she disappeared. Not only did they hack the voice mail but they removed messages to make room for more (the phone was in the possession of the police, so how they didn't know about this at the time mystifies me!).

There is also some so far unsubstantiated claims that UK soldiers killed in Iraq/Afghanistan had thier phones hacked and a claim made that 9/11 victims/relatives werer also targetted, although this claim has since been dropped.

Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch and Rebecca Brookes face a parliamentary enquiry today but I expect that this is just the tip of the iceberg and that it will emerge that further newspapers outside the Murdoch empire were also doing similar underhand tactics for years.

What the whole sorry mess tells us is that the press will do anything for a story, and we (the public) have encouraged and abetted it by buying the gutter press for years.

Maybe this will signal a return to some kind of politically independant decent media, but I doubt it ; )

Matt what are the charges So the 9/11 victims were not hacked?

I'm not too sure of the details regarding the allegations of hacking against 9/11 victims, but I think the allegation was made by the New York Times maybe? The FBI have apaprently discounted the allegations already but we have had very limited coverage of this aspect of the whole scandal (we have enough sh*t in the fan here already I think!).

Once the Millie Dowler case hit the headlines there were all sorts of allegations and rumour about hacking just about everybody's voice mails, most of which will probably turn out to be false. However there are a lot of notebooks and numbers for the police to investigate, and I don't think we'll hear the last of this for a couple of years yet.

The deeper they dig the more they will unearth unfortunately and this has been going on for a long time (at least since 2003) and probably with more than one newspaper. The plot thickens, as they say ; )

The Murdochs won't apepar in front of their comittee until later today, but if you want to follow it then BBC news is probably best http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/

I fully expect MP's to make a very public show of their vilification of the Murdochs and their empire because none of them want to be associated with Murdoch/News International/News Corporation any longer. How times have changed in just a few short weeks : )

At the moment the 'other' parliamentary investigation into police involvement and their relationship with the press is sitting and questioning the senior police officers involved, and again you can follow this on the same BBC news site live here now http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-14193124.

I think most conservatives support the prosecution of any Murdoch employee that broke the law.

Do liberals support the execution of Bradley Manning for treason? And the prosecution of Julian Assange for seeking out and distributing stolen information (err, when he wasn't busy being at least an @$$&^%^& and at worst a rapist)?

I don't think the Murdoch enquiry has any party political boundaries or favouritism any longer. Everybody is out to get him and his organisation from every side of the political spectrum! Nobody wants to be seen as being 'on his side' or in any way supporting him any longer. Conservatives, liberals and lefties have all sucked up to him for decades thinking he could influence the electorate, now they are all trying to jump into lifeboats and distance themselves from him as fast as possible before they sink with him and his terminally damaged ship!

It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic to see.

The one annoying thing to me is that a perfectly honest and upstanding police officer (Paul Stephenson) has been dragged down in the whirlpool of public disgust and anger.

Rupert stayed too long on the stage, long enough for his chair to be pulled out from under him.
After he bought the WSJ, I switched to the Financial Times, along with IBD, for my coffee shop ruminations.
Newspapers are not as important, nor as powerful, as they were before the art of critical thinking was pulled off our school curriculum in favor of demonstrating how a condom fits a cucumber and how to give everyone a self esteem prize in the game of life.
Hey, ho, halcyon days.
