For those of you who don't know about this, get some news from somewhere other than Fox News. Anywhere else.

The story so far includes: bribery, dirty cops, high-level politicians, resignations, arrests, Scotland Yard, profuse apologies, etc.

And now the FBI is investigating whether Murdoch's organization (which includes Fox News and the Wall Street Journal) did similar illegal, sleazy acts in the U.S.

Stay tuned: this could get interesting.

@Strokizator:

Every _other_ news organization (not just the left-wingers) has the story on the front page. And I have yet to see anything about it on Fox News TV. And I've been watching for it.

Don't take it so personally, Stokizator. I'm not implying anything about your politics. What I am implying is that Fox News is not always "Fair and Balanced" in their sensationalism.

The 'journalists' who committed these crimes do not work for Fox News.

I don't understand why some of you seem to view Fox News as the Second Coming.

I reiterate: If your only resource for news is Fox TV, you likely knew nothing of this scandal until you read this thread.

Actually Foxnews covered this when it first broke in 2006. No one else did. They continue to report on it on a much more regular schedule than everryne but the BBC.

This seems to be a huge story with todays events. The top two members of Scotland Yard resigning and the death of the original whistle blower will make conspiracy believers out of even the most skeptical.

I wonder when our FBI and DoJ will be implicated in this scandal. Both are known to work closely with Scotland Yard and there is already talk of US investigation.

Starting to look like the police in england were using the same illegal activities as the new of the world reporters. My bet is our FBI, HSA people were not above the same illegal activities. News organizations have long been cover identities for spying activities, why not internal surveillance.

On go the conspriacy theories. A good time for the anti government types.

My only source of news is not Fox, but I did read about there first, on Thursday or Friday I believe. It's also on the front page of the Wall Street Journal online, another News Corp operation.

But I guess you don't visit those sites, or you would know that. If the other major networks are YOUR only source of news, you're missing all sorts of things that rub their ideology the wrong way and choose not to cover.

There there's the newsgroup for reporters where they go to find out what they should be reporting on. Have to maintain a unified front you know. If you watch one network news, you're watching them all. It's all the same news. They make sure of that.

And before you ask, no I do not watch Hannity or Beck. I've tried. I can't make it through an episode. Too much bitching going on.

I watch the actions of our political leaders directly on CSPAN (I avoid CSPAN's commentary too) and form my own opinions.

Watching an entire debate is so much more informative than the few sound bites or post debate press conferences the news provides. It's really the only way to know who's giving you the shaft.

Sounds like you are in the closet. I watched The O'Reilly Factor last night and it was a feature story.

It was also featured prominently on Fox and Friends this morning as I was leaving for work.

They do, as required by law, add the "we are owned by the same parent company" disclaimer but their coverage has been quite thorough.

How did you not know that?

It causes graves reservations about your knowledge of current events and doesn't make you appear bright on the internet.

Personally I wouldn't trust it. I've seen NBC seem to lack coverage and details every time something happens at the Indian Point nuclear facility, which happens to be owned by the same company. I've seen enough crap on Fox over the years that if I hear something from them, I will go and look it up elsewhere to confirm.

"It would be like blaming God for a hurricane wrecking your house... that YOU built on the windward side of a Caribbean island."

One of the dumbest analogies I've ever read.
Rupert Murdoch is a piece of shit and taking out ads in your own papers to apologies is pathetic. Don't think for one second he was in the dark about any of this. He needs to go to jail and his whole "empire" needs to be dispersed. But don't worry. He has money and the backing of a certain political party. He'll walk away smelling like a rose.

Fox news is "right" biased (relative to the rest of the media, it's actually fairly centrist by more objective standards).

NBC CBS ABC CNN NYT ETC are all fairly left leaning.

If you claim otherwise, you just look ignorant.

I have been following the scandal since it broke, first on the Drudge Report (you know, that extreme right wing news aggregator). I was reading about it on Fox news for the last week as well.

Like Court said, when we read your statements along the lines of "you all better get your news somewhere other than Fox, because you won't read about this there"... knowing we have been following the story for the past week there, just makes you look stupid.

Don't feel bad though, I look stupid (in person and on the Internet) all the time. Ask anyone. : )

And the more interesting part of the story is that the police were neck deep in the whole thing. And that people that don't change the default passwords on their voice mail are asking for trouble (even if it is still a crime to intercept them).

Those that did the crime, and that can be convicted, should do the time (to keep my posting fair and balanced ; ) )

Just like Clinton should have done jail time for lying under oath.

Funny, the right wing internet press is all over it. If it bleeds it leads.

Face it, Obama is thought by those who dislike him to be able to get away with murder in broad daylight. The "press" will cover it up. But if he actually did do something to get a reporter the coveted "Woodward and Bernstein" triumph, they'd jump all over it. ( once this applied to Clinton, then a real scandal with too too juicy details...... )

Now there IS a bias. Even Fox News just reads the biased ( lefty ) crap from AP, Reuters, etc. Not reporting something that dis's your side is an editorial thing, not the reporter. If a guy has a juicy story that the boss won't let him print...it never happened. ( as far as YOU know ) Some guys break the rules, though and sometimes the real thing comes out on "alternative" press.

Face it, most "news" companies have cut way back on reporters, it's all stringers and indies now.

Now, when you're talking talk show jerks, there certainly is open bias. If you prefer O'Really, or Uberman depends on your own pre judgment, right?

Think about that for a moment, eh? Jb?

Myself I don't watch either. Annoying, and often wrong.

I'm kinda hoping someone in the lefty press actually notices the GunWalker Treason. not holding breath. The righty press isn't large enough to get the attention & impeachments our law requires.

And . . . . in other news . . . . yet ANOTHER group of UAW workers were filmed imbibing, doing a little blow and generally relaxing on their lunch hours.

This gets old . . every month we're treated to another film of UAW workers getting loaded . . my fear is that with union membership dropping like a rock . . the entertainment, along with the POS cars, will soon dry up.

The Dems returned some of the tainted funds and Mr. "No Fat Cat Lobbyists" will be hosting the head of the AFL-CIO in The White House for the 72nd time tomorrow.
