Local dealership had a demo day on Saturday, I want to ride a XR and a VRod, so I headed down there (and to get an oil filter for the Ultra). No XR1200. No VRods. F word. Took a new Road Glide out with the large windshield, and a used (12k mile) superglide, that was either a SE model or had SE stuff on it. Road Glide was wonderful. ZERO complaints, and I tried to find the problems. Plenty of power for any of the conditions I could put it through - highway, in town was easy, and then on the backroads it was still enjoyable. Super Glide, its a smaller bike and I was excited to try it out. The excitement faded very quickly. Brakes were HORRIBLE. The front lever was hard as a brick while the rear just went to the floor with little braking pressure. It was also more cramped riding position than my 1125R. I could have my feet on the pegs, hands on the grips, and touch my elbows to my knees. I cant do this on my 1125 without being on the tips of my toes on the pegs. Power wasnt as good as the RG either. Seat was also harder than my 1125. Just not as much fun as the roadglide. I have to admit - its fun to beat the hell out of a motorcycle that isnt yours. And I learned you can downshift both of those bikes without using a clutch |

they had the XR1200X at my dealers demo rides. It has a good motor but the bike weighs a ton, or at least it seems like it does! lol |

103 Cube motor and touring chassis is a very nice bike - no matter what config. 12k used - an abused by the sounds of it. Dealer should have sorted that - they have reasonable brakes when in good order. Yeah XR1200 is heavy. Well balanced though and it's got 'all-but' a Buell type engine. V-rods don't push my buttons that much. They feel like a big scooter to me. Stuffed if I know why the Street Rod didn't sell though. As oft repeated - best bike H-D have made yet. |

Was that just a dealer thing or was the HD truck there? We had the HD truck around here about a month ago, got to try both the XR1200X and the V-rod. I thought the XR actually "felt" light even though it's still heavier than my XT. Not as versatile though. You can keep the V-rod, not my style. Seat too low, bars too far forward, and the first sharp corner I dragged my heel on the road. Almost pulled out of the group and had the sweeper take me back to the dealership it was so bad. Overall they're fun to try but that's about it. |

I think it might have just been a dealer thing, I didnt see the large HD truck on the property (and they had a huge lot around back where they do the MSF course and we went through it (lot, not the msf course ) I really want to try a VRod, hearing so many different opinions on it, just want to have my own |

Love my streetrod, BUT it is NOT the typical V-rod |

I rode one of those Street Rods a few years back at Daytona. I really liked it. The HD guy leading the ride had us doing over 90 behind the airport, not your typical group demo ride! That motor might be big and heavy, but it sure ran nice! |

I demo'd a VRod in Laughlin a few years ago and really liked it. But that was when you could still get one with mid controls. They now come with a back tire so wide that I don't think you need to use the side stand when you're parked. I had an '08 Road Glide and it was (my brother talked me out of it) a great bike. The '09 and newer chassis are even better. |
