Well... my trusty Saturn took a beating... Yesterday I hit some road debris at 70 mph in Indiana... today the front muffler pipe got detached in Virginia. The mechanic in Wisco said to be careful of getting carbon monoxide inside the cab so I did the last 200 miles w the windows down... maybe I should keep it this way and put a 'Loud Pipes Scare Squirrels' sticker on it? Got a few looks blasting Los Lonely Boys... ay carumba !!!! |

Poor li'l TupperCar... Should be able to remove the forward muffler and install a "test pipe" (length of straight pipe). Figure maybe $25 in parts. |

It sounds like it is dying when it hits 4000 rpm... even the Mexican dude in the Isuzu pickup w no bumper and his plate hangin off his tailgate w wires was looking at me funny... almost asphyxiated myself just now running to the local grocery store... hopefully the entire pipe isn't corroded... Rat, you really need to make house calls! lol (Message edited by Whatever on July 14, 2011) |

Hey Charlotte where in Wisconsin are you? I am in Waukesha and have a welder! Might be able to patch up your exhaust on the cheap. |

I think it sounds like you broke the flex pipe between the manifold and the Cat. Now that's going to leave a mark..... Lucky it wasn't your bike. |

And lucky the exhaust didn't pole-vault through a floor mat Hm. House calls. Mileage? Time? Drinks? |

Just keep your best giant coffee can, have it welded to the end of the tailpipe, fix the header problem... Then you'll be kewllll. (insert "beater" emoticons...) Check your tire pressure, oil, washer fluid, music, then your ride should be OK. (Message edited by 86129squids on July 15, 2011) |

That pipe let go when I had an SC2. Makes a lot of noise, doesn't it! Most of the system is stainless, so you might be able to get away with just replacing that section. I think that's all I had to do (that, and the straps that hold the exhaust can proper on). |

Don't think any OEM uses stainless exhaust in the US. I think they're aluminized steel, with some stainless fasteners and components... |

I was told by the sales man (in 1999) it was stainless so I didn't worry about the salt... I think he was wrong and so was I... Hope it is fixed Monday morning... have in person interview on Monday afternoon... do not want to embarass myself! |

Saturns can be pretty decieving to work on... Solid body, no rust, then everything needs torched to take off... |

Getting it fixed under 200$ not so bad... Someone said 'Don't leave the car out there it is a bad neighborhood...'. My response... I am hoping someone steals it! |
