So I am sitting here at a local coffee house and I am at a desk in the front window directly across from the Piglet... and this guy in a little Geo just backed into my bike and knocked it over! Funny thing is, I had ear buds in and I screamed at the top of my lungs, as I saw the entire thing from 10 feet away, "OH SHIT !!!" I am just really glad I have those hard bags on there today, because the hand guards and hard bags have again saved the frame from any damage. What was this guy thinking, I would like to know... I mean the parking lot is gravel and there is barely enough room for a compact car to park, let alone turn around. What the heck ??? Bag popped off and the latch is still tempermental from the first dump in the sand dune. I just let him go, but he needs to be off the road in my opinion. End of rant... Ouch! You are very nice to "just let him go". Did he at least offer to pay damages? Glad your frame is not toast. |

He offered his insurance and contact info... I am sure he is a regular at this place and I could track him down if I had to! |

He was not the kind of guy one would want to have dinner with... Maybe go buy some more pink flags! |

Char, I actually do own a purple Geo Metro. I bought it when gas prices soared a few years ago. It gets great gas mileage. You saw my other two vehicles. My four wheel drive pickup and my Buell 1125R more than make up for the purple car. I need no pink flags! |

Being forgiving in the midst of an emotional disaster is commendable. And you learned something very important. If you see that guy's back-up lights come on;YOU'RE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE CAR! |

Char I had a very similar experience. I was living in an apartment with Motorcycle parking and that's where my baby sat. I am leaving for vacation as i drive out of the lot and there is my baby that got backed into hard enough to push her over the parking curb. My 9 doesn't have bags so she received 1900 worth of damage and THE LOSS OF 6WEEKS OF RIDING TIME IN THE ALREADY SHORT CHICAGO SEASON. Either way the girl who hit it was still there and crying so i just had to grind my teeth and nicely say its OK that's why they call it an accident try to be more careful next time..... |

My very first street bike... my beloved 1976 CB750F1... was parked in my spot at work right where I could see it through the front door at work. A bobtail truck pulled up adjacent to the building to unload whatever the hell it was he needed to deliver, pulled right up to my bike. He would have to back up to go around it, he was that close. So, he offloads his goods, gets his signature and goes back out to the truck... and pulls straight forward and crushes the bike under his front wheels. Rear wheel: taco configuration Swingarm: pinched together Rear shocks: one burst, and other bent in half. Seat: broken off and squished Rear lights: shattered and broken. Exhaust: mangled beyond repair. Someone inside my work yelled, "Matt, your bike got knocked over!" Here goes 17 year old Matt running outside bent on teaching some idiot a very physical lesson, when he encounters the culprit. All 6 foot 5 inches and probably 300 pounds of him. Guy looked like a wrecking ball with legs... took the wind right out of my sails. I got all his information and he f*cked me over by giving me a fake business card and expired insurance with no good information on it. Never got any satisfaction from that, ended up selling the bike for salvage. |
