The famous Bob's BMW is slated to take on Buell motorcycles. Once I found out via their email announcement I replied back with a request for them to support this forum. It will be neat to see whom else will pick up Buell during this time of growth without the HD pucker factor. Will more dealerships be willing to take on the ERB in sales/service? |

I bought my M2 from them. I asked them if they were g going to service it prior to taking delivery and they said they did not know anything about Buell motorcycles. When I looked at my paperwork I saw that I had been charged a large fee for "setup". I should have made an issue of it, esp. since the oil looked like tar. All's well that ends well, though. I gave somewhat too much for it but it has been almost completely reliable and I don't regret buying it for a minute. |

There should be a virtual badweb franchise, where we can buy E_B_R bikes. No, don't ask me how that would work - I haven't a clue. Just sayin'. |

I would not be surprised to see some new and innovative ways of doing business. A dealer network is essential but I think it's possible to explore and improve upon the traditional delivery model.. Few folks have a keener sense of some of the things that don't work as Buell owners. Much has been learned about the role the dealer plays in insuring a delighted customer. I'm thinking big. |

I don't know about how unfriendly Battlefield is the owner just gave me a pair of the original Buell Vansen leather pants as a gift! If the e-mail was about welcoming a guy named Buell as a service manager then coloring the e-mail blue with white question marks with an out line of what looks something like 1125R is cruel. Do you all think they are fishing for our response? I sent an e-mail yesterday when I saw this and I have had no reply so far |

If this is the message you received, it's CLEARLY a play on words and not the case that they are selling E-B-R motorcycles... "Buell is back! After much consideration it was decided, Bobs wants Buell! Not sure what's going on? Stop by Bob's, tell them you're here for Buell and see for yourself! Save gas...see Buell with your own eyes while your bike is being serviced! Call 301-497-8949, ext. 502 to schedule your service appointment TODAY or email us! See you soon! |

Yup- like $6 at WalMart! I've really only used them for 1 trip (where my profile pic was taken, on the way home from HomeComing). They worked great, and really helped the monkey butt from a sweaty rear and thighs with jeans. |

Battlefield has never been Buell-friendly. Heck, they didn't even have a tech that knew how to remove the primary cover on my S-3.. (Message edited by Chauly on June 29, 2011) |

chauly - while I think highly of a lot of the quality of HD, I think they make some poor choices, and that goes down the dealer level sometimes. The tubers (I have a s3 as well) are pretty basic bikes centered around a Sportster motor. And Im always surprised to see how quickly they dont want to asssist when you say the "B" word even though its almost the same dang thing as the sportsters they work on all of the time. Situations like yours are plain silly, there is no difference between a sporty primary and that on the S3, same gaskets, same bolt locations to pull it off. Funny email posted above, good wording! |

It was worse: when I returned home to Virginia, I opened the primary to finish the repair they started (but didn't have the parts or skills to finish). When I went to re-install the cover, all but two of the bolts were cheesed in the threads. I went through many Heli-coils... |

That is ridiculous. Like I said, its the same damn primary on the sportys that they work on all of the time Its like there is a local dealership to me, they have one Buell mechanic, the others refuse to touch them for any reason at all, not knowing anything about what it is I want or what Buell it is, they just dont want to mess with it cause its Buell. They are/were a Buell dealer. I know these cases are a bit rare, but still, its uncalled for |

I have 2 X1's and I think some dealers don't know how to handle the tubers for servicing anymore. One time I dropped off my Red racing stripe X1. I keep this bike in showroom condition. The tech left it on the lift, and found it on the floor the next day, it fell off! I got the service for free, and took photos of everything damaged. The total bill the dealer ate was over 1,000.00. This happened in 2007 the tubers stopped in 2003 when the XB's came out. I'm very careful with who services the X1's now |

It'a amazing . . . . I spent some time on Sunday, for the first time, doing a complete service on my 2008 Ulysses. It's not been so much a case of "I can't" as I simply have never really had a huge need . . . . I've always been around folks, like the factory R&D Mechanics, who were REALLY good. Dealers, in my experience, seem to have a marked lack of attention to detail. I've kept rather close track, when I've gotten bikes back, of what has not been done or what was overlooked. That concerns me on a motorcycle and is the reason that over the years I've fallen into the habit of, after picking a bike up at a dealer, not riding it (other than home) until I've had some "milk crate" time with a couple of torque wrenches. Just habit. I don't see this improving and am essentially preparing my own "stupid lazy persons guide to the care and loving of a Buell". I excel at both stupid and lazy . . it seemed only natural. This morning I did the 10,000 service and carefully photographed everything and kept notes. There is great comfort in knowing that fasteners are tight and that the oil really WAS changed and with what I wanted in it. Don't take this as a blanket indictment of dealers . . . . I've been around some of the best. But . . . . I have the time and desire to want it done, not just right but, perfect. |

I'm with Court on this one! I'm very picky and ask for the mechanic's check sheet and compare it to the owners manual when I pick up a bike for service. I check the oil level and go over the bike before I ride away. I ride around the area before I head home. I change the oil on all of them of my bikes but that's about it. Now I have a guy who I've know since I was a teenager who was the head of the Elkridge dealer shop he works on my bikes. He is really good. I got him to install my Erik Buell Racing 6mm rotor it cost me $50.00. He is going to service my Uly next week, install new brake pads, swap out the 2007 triple tree for the 2008 and put new tires on. I'll let you all know what the cost is. |

Sifo - Those look good as black on black seat. Did you trim a standard set to get them to fit so well? |

Yep, trimmed a standard set and painted them black. They were just a little too hideous looking before I sprayed them black. Monkey butt just isn't an issue I have to deal with any more though. I did recently see a dealer carrying seat beads cut to fit motorcycles, already painted black. It wasn't hard to find the manufacturer online. They made numerous sizes depending on your bike. They even had a sizing chart that had Buell models.

The parts guys at FT. Washington got all confused when I asked for a rocker box to head gasket for my Blast. They even said they don't stock Buell parts or have the books. If the gasket wasn't hanging on the peg board behind them, for me to point out, I don't think i would sold them to me. |
