Just found out I've got a good chance of getting temporary orders to Travis AFB at the end of July to train some personnel out there. Would LOVE to attend round 7 at Laguna Seca. Any Buellers in the area planning on attending? Figured I'd check here to see if there's anyone I could hitch a ride with. I'll be flying out to Travis, so no transportation for me If nothing else, Enterprise appears to have very reasonable rates on Chevy Aveo rentals. But hooking up with some fellow Buellers for the weekend would be even better! Plus I'd like to think that Geoff will be riding the 1190 by then, if not earlier at Mid-Ohio. |

Seriously, you might shoot Al a note at American Sport Bike He and Jerry haul the trucks and trailers up from San Diego for all of us - they might have an open seat... never know. |

I'll be in SoCal over that weekend, and I'm inclined to head north. Stay in touch if nothing comes up... |

Here's a thought. If you have general admission tix for the race, you can ride shuttle buses to and from the track for free. The buses converge on the infield and go to Salinas, Monterey and a few other nearby places. You could likely catch a train or bus from Travis to the Salinas Greyhound/Amtrak depot which is about 2 blocks from the shuttle bus transportation center. Last year my youngest son took the Amtrak from Los Angeles Union Station to Salinas. Then the wife and I took the shuttle bus to pick him up, have lunch, do some shopping and the 3 of us returned to the track. He only had to pay for the train ride to Salinas, but the shuttle bus trips were free (and convenient). |

Also check out bayarearidersforum.com (BARF)there are a lot of riders in Solano county and the bay area that might be going. Of course they may be riding their bikes. |

I've never attended one of these races before. Is a General Admission ticket the only thing I need? I see paddock passes and grandstand tickets, any reason to spend the extra $$ on those? Thanks for the input so far. Still trying to figure out the details of the temporary assignment at Travis so I can make more detailed plans. |

GA for the number of days you want to be there is the minimum. You'll need a paddock pass if you want to see the race bikes (and umbrella girls) up close and mingle with the crews and the racers. Grandstand tix are a good idea if you seriously want to see a particular race with a good vantage point, but you're limited to that one area. But without grandstand tix, you can walk around the track and find a spot on the fence or shady spot at the Corkscrew. Buy tix early because the prices go up as race date approaches. There's a big infield where one can see side shows, new bikes, do demo rides, buy stuff at the vendor booths, eat, drink & be merry. Saturday is AMA Supersport race. Sunday races are AMA Daytona Sportbike, MotoGP & AMA Superbike. Practice & qualifying starts Friday. |

Paddock passes will ONLY get you into the AMA paddock, NOT MotoGP. Well worth the $$$ - especially if you want to meet Erik Buell, Geoff May and the crew. If this year is like any other, I would bet that Erik, Geoff and crew will try to stop by the Love Shack if they can afford the time away from the pits. |

I could be way wrong on this, but my recollection from last year was the AMA paddock was wide open and the paddock pass was to get into the MotoGP paddock. And other than the umbrella girls, the MotoGP paddock was a complete waste of time. Maybe SUnday is the wrong time to visit the MOtoGp paddock, but everything is completely blocked off with fancy barriers. I could not believe the amount of people sitting there staring at those barriers, waiting for something to happen. The AMA paddock on the other hand, is way more interesting, friendly & accessible....and there are some cute honeys walking around there too Not to mention the 1190 should be in action! Hell yeah. I love Laguna Seca. |

The Love Shack...dats where its at. Shawn Higbee stayed with us at the LSLS (Laguna Seca Love Shack) two years ago. Come on up and visit as there is a great view of the lower Corkscrew. |

The AMA paddock on the other hand, is way more interesting, friendly & accessible....and there are some cute honeys walking around there too : ) Let me rephrase that: The AMA paddock is way more interesting BECAUSE it's friendly and accessible. I am sure if we had the similar access to the MotoGP bikes, it would interesting as hell...but we don't. |

Finally found out the dates of my temporary assignment today. Just in time to come home and see that paddock passes are sold out. Oh well, watching the 1190RS's second race will be epic. Too bad I have to miss out on the umbrella girls.. |

A bunch of us will have paddock passes. Meet us at the Love Shack, we'll share. IF Shawn Higbee is racing, I'll be in the pits; if not we can trade off. You MUST at least get to meet Geoff! |

I need to ask Shawn. His 1125R is getting tired. We have a crate motor but very little spare time and even less funding to get him entered racing for Antelope Valley. |

Not sure yet if Shawn will be racing. We're trying to see if we can get the 2010 crate motor installed into the Antelope Valley machine. That'd give him an "A" bike with a fresh motor. Still working on trying to get funding for entry fees and tires. |

I would assume he would be racing DSB? |

It would depend on sponsor exposure preferences. The 1125R can race in either or both classes. So far, not sure if he's going to make it to Laguna. |

It would depend on sponsor exposure preferences. Interesting. I was thinking DSB because the close-to-stock 1125r motor would be more competitive, aside from being the only Buell in the pack. |

Renting an ST 1300 tomorrow in Concord, then plan on heading north, circling Clear Lake, then heading back south past Lake Berryessa. Kind of on a crunch for time as tomorrow will be my first day off since arriving. Should be fun though. If anyone in the area wants to tag along, hit me up via PM or Facebook. "Phillip Forbes" on FB, I should be the only one with that name in the US Navy network. Still waiting on details before I can make definite plans for attending the race at Laguna next weekend. I might need to fly out early. We'll see.. |
