Anyone have motorcycle specific roadside assistance that they are happy with? That's a good value? |

Join the AMA. Membership comes with roadside assistance, magazine subscription and advocacy for motorcycle rights all for $40 per year. |

I have the "Plus RV" option on my AAA membership. That makes it cover bikes. Not sure of the additional cost since the wife pays it. I should check into the AMA option next time. |

Scooter, in CA AAA requires the Plus RV and if you want more than 20 miles towing, you need the to upgrade to platinum or something. I was at $120 per year. I went with the AMA last year. |

Dfbutler Thanks for the info.... I have to have AAA, or similar for the wife, and especially, the daughter away at college. I'd have to do a comparison of how that all stacks up. I have actually used the AAA for the Buell 3 times, I think. Once for a tire I couldn't get sealed and two belts. All just over 20 miles to the house. Cost me only $20 tip for the driver, so I've been pretty happy. I had the roadside with HOG a long time ago. They took like 4 hours to get there and I was in town. |

$120 sounds right for AAA plus RV. We opted for AMA as well, hope to not try it out anytime soon. |

Bent Mind and I both have used the Progressive roadside assistance recently. I sat on the side of the road for 3 hours and 45 minutes. Two different towing companies were involved.I was transported 11 miles and it was covered. Bent Mind sat on the side of the road 4 hours, was tranported 36 miles and was charged for everything over 15 miles,$120. When I had Brag membership it included 50 miles of transport. |

Just did a quick $$comparison. AAA Plus RV + 2 associates (wife and daughter) = $168 AAA Plus + 2 associates + AMA = $177 Considering I've had pretty good luck with AAA I'll likely stay with them. May join AMA for the advocacy and mag however! |

Scotter, check AMA site. A friend of mine also has AMA and has had his car towed under it. I think you'll find it is a real roadside assistance policy. As far as how long it will take, I think it depends on locale and available assets. I'd be willing to bet most roadside assistance is a pool thing, everyone using the same resources. I once waited at the side of the road for 4 hours in TX for AAA to show. They never did. |

I have not had to use AMA yet, but AAA left me stranded on the side of the road for close to two hours with a flat, and I was on Highway 94 in winter. At least the State Trooper did come back and then get me going. So I called AAA and wanted some kind of compensation, like a discount on next year's fees, since I had had them for ten years. Their managers acted like I was nuts. So I got AMA Defender... why not? They probably subcontract it, but it is a good cause and they provide the service. Might do a lifetime AMA membership soon as I get a job. |

I have Good Sam. Covers every vehicle, including my work van and bike. Additional to this, I have the roadside program through Verizon on all my phones. It covers any vehicle, regardless who owns it as long as the cell phone is present when the driver shows up. I have used it once, and was satisfied from start to finish. |
