it's time to upgrade ... or at least vreizon says so, since it's been 2 years and they want to lock me into another contract. but i've been eyeing and enjoying other's super capable and user-frendly mobile devices. i kinda wanna go with an i-phone and call it a day, but there's black-berry's and HTC's and .... well, i dunno which is the 'most good-est' opinions? |

The only phones to get are the LTE phones, it's coming faster than you might think and having an old phone is not what you want. I think they only have one or two truly LTE phones right now and thew iPhone is not one of them. I think the newest Motorola Droid 2 might be and on HTC something or other might be, check the specs on the phones themselves, not what Verizon says. Last November the sales people said the Droid X was an LTE phone, come to find out that this is not correct so check your facts and wait for more LTE choices to arrive. LTE phones work on the older standards too so no fear about it not working. |

There are currently 3 4G phones available with two more coming in the next 30-45 days. The new iPhone is likely to be a 3G "S" upgrade not a full 4G phone. I would avoid ANY Blackberry right now. None are 4G capable and ALL are old model rehashes. They are trying to be bought and aren't spending any money on R&D for new models. I am waiting for the Droid Bionic (Targa) and the Droid 3 (Solara). The Bionic is supposed to be a dual core processor as is the Droid 3. The question is whether the Droid 3 will be 4G or not. Both should be running Droid 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. The Bionic is supposed to have a 13MP camera and be able to take HD photos and video if that's important. After 11 years of loyal service, I am leaving the Blackberry pattern. I HATE everything Apple, so it's Droid for me. They have a better model. They are open development for apps plus they revenue share with the carrier on app sales where Apple gets every dollar of app sales. This means less money for the carrier to build out network capabilities long term. |

Be sure to get real world reviews on battery life. The newest of the new and grandest of the grand dual core 4g phones tend to have horrible battery life. The GF just got a new Verizon phone, we stuck with a 3g phone as here in Iowa our 4g roadmap is a little behind the larger metro areas. Did the HTC Incredible 2. It's been good so far. (only had it a couple days) We read a couple reviews that basically said it was the best 3g phone they offer right now. It should only get better when they release the 2.3 update for it, which is supposed to be at about any day. |

I have an HTC evo on Sprint, which is basically the HTC thunderbolt. I love it, especially with gingerbread now |

I believe the new Droid X-2 is LTE. I have no complaints about my Droid X. One of the best cell phones I have ever had. |

My sister In-Law has the HTC Thunderbolt and absolutely loves it! LTE and lots of Farkles! Only complanint she has is the battery life but Extended batteries are easy to get on Amazon! Myself I love my Droid X! It is a Bit outdated now (at most 2 years old now ) but still capable for my needs! I'm going to hold out on the Droid Bionic! |

Battery life and heat management issues are what killed the original Bionic (Etna) platform. Sad to see it since I really preferred the design of the Etna platform. My understanding is the Nvidia dual core chipset just didn't work for the phone. |

I don't know about "LTE" or "4G", but I am sold on the iPhone. I don't care as much for the new version though based solely on form factor. I'd stick with a 3GS version for as long as possible. Someone care to explain the big advantage of 4G/LTE? It that already widespread/available most regions or only in the bigger cities? |

Sounds like the benefits to 4G/LTE at the moment is internet surfing, mainly watching NetFlix movies. |

4g isn't even anything new, my Nokia N800 pda/tablet, which predates the original Iphone had 4g WiMax capabilities. Only problem back then was finding a provider. I wouldn't use the lack of 4g on a device as a deal breaker, as it sure is nice to have if you are in a covered area. It is fast, and in some cases faster than household cable internet. |

The benefit is faster data. That is the only benefit as all 4g is, is a faster internet connection, so anything that uses that data will be faster. Video will benefit the most as you will be able to view youtube and netflix and other services at higher quality settings without buffering delays. |

Like mentioned above, if your not real concerned with super speed surfing or downloading, 4G is not a big deal! Alot of of places dont even have it YET, but like 3g once was, it will be! the norm, and fast! |

I have the Thunderbolt and love it! Battery life does suck. I carry an extra one if I'm going to be out somewhere where i cant charge it. I'm not in a LTE area yet, but they have it in Chicago and its SUPER fast. LTE also takes even MORE battery life. That's the only downside to me. I also was going to wait on the Bionic, but wife needed an upgrade a few months ago and i learned of the issue's it was having so i got the Thunderbolt instead! Verizon announced today 19 new cities getting 4G LTE this Thursday! http://news.vzw.com/news/2011/06/pr2011-06-10a.htm l |

Since Verizon was kind enough to stretch the hardware refresh out to 20 months vs. the 12 months I had before, I HAVE to choose a phone that is at least competitive for the next 20 months. I've been eligible for an upgrade since October of last year. That was when they rolled out 4G without a single phone that could utilize it. I've had to wait for the hardware to catch up with the network capabilities. It's maddening. I HATE my POS Blackberry. It is a pedantic POS. It used to be enough to do phone, email, calendar, and the occasional web surf. Now, nearly all of my necessary applications are web based. As a result, it takes forever for my stupid phone to do anything I need it to do. Blackberry is dead. |

Just last week a guy spotted my Star Tac and wanted to buy it right off my belt. He knew it was bullet proof and ten feet tall..compared to others. Makes calls and takes calls.........everything else can wait. Sadly,it can't be transferred due to the gps thing....or lack or it. Some say the gps locator can be turned off on the newer phones. Is that true? |

If you have to ask, you are an iPhone guy, for sure. Not only is it a great phone, and easy to use, but it has the same operating system as the iPad, which for many people, can replace a computer. (Yes, I know it isn't going to replace my Mac Pro work station with 3TB of storage in a Raid 0 array, 17 gigs of ram, and a 30"Nec Monitor). Droids are great for geeks, iPhones are for people. just my .02¢

For my money, the best Verizon smartphone is still the Droid 2 Global. 1ghz single core with 8 gigs of system memory. No other phone I can find has more than 2 gigs of ram. The 3g is plenty fast and it streams Amazon video with ease. My son has a 4g android phone.... meh. |

I had a droix and got the new droid x2 after I found out my x wasn't waterproof.. It's easy to use and does everything I can think of except it doesn't have a dual camera for skype, it will skype just doesn't have two cameras. I like the big screen for interent, and the x2 has a much better display than the x. |

my advise is go to a Verizon shore and test an iPhone against a 4G LTE phone and you won't give the iPhone a second look! The difference in speed is amazing and Apple isn't even making any upgrades in their phones for 4G yet, nor are they even talking about it either! I have the original Motorola Droid and when I compared it to the new HTC Thunderbolt at the Verizon store, it tested just about 10 times faster clock speed over my Droid and it was tethering 3 extra devices when I ran the test of the two phones. I was totally shocked. My upgrade date is this coming December and I'm hoping for the new Motorola Droid Bionic to be out by then but they are still making changes to that phone because of heating issues. |

I have an HTC Evo with Sprint. My understanding is that it's basically the same as the HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon. My only complaint when first getting used to the phone was battery life. The stock 1500mah battery would last a max of 12 hours, as little as 5 hours if I used the phone a lot. I got the 2500mah "extended" battery from Sprint and am now completely happy with the lifespan. It more than doubled (not sure how that works, since battery size did not double) Still not up to par with the 4-5 DAYS I could let my BB Curve go without a charge, but the Evo is a supercomputer compared to the Curve, so shorter battery life is to be expected. |

I thought the 50 minute battery life on my aging dying HTC Touch Pro running Windows Mobile 6.5 was great.... I'm going to Windows phone 7 when they get a CDMA 4G model out. |
