I will be taking my second trip to Robbinsville for a week. I posted in the stormfronts C3 Western NC section but not sure if that's the right spot. I will be there with a group of 7 HD riders and a squid on an IL4 and it would rock to meet up with a few local Buellers. Anyone want to hear a CR with an RT3? Will do the "moonshiner" and Cherohola (sp) skyway and of course the dragon. I know there are lots of twisties up there but looking for suggestions. Where's that waterfall over the road? I think that's in the area right... |

Hey there buddy- I believe you're thinking of Angel Falls, been a long time since I've been there, but IIRC it's in the Smokies, fairly easy to get to... also, just off the Cherohala and a nice slow 2-lane ride up, you can check out Bald River Falls too. As you head up the little road, about 15ish+ miles, be sure to look for a little side road- it's the only shortcut to get back to the Cherohala without going all the way back down. (Of course that doesn't suck too bad either...) FWIW, the local dealership (Smoky Mountain) is having 2 concerts: Friday, Molly Hatchet, then Saturday, 7 Walkers. They always have a good time on the weekends, good grub, good cold beer, etc. When you ride from Robbinsville to Tellico Plains, be sure to get there hungry and head to the Tellico Plains Bakery- AB FAB pizza, sandwiches, All from scratch, organic, pizzas flash baked in a wood fired oven... or, the Tellico Beach drive-in aint bad either, just not NEARLY as good as the bakery... Good rides all around- map out how to get from Tellico Plains to Reliance TN and back, nice side trip that can be planned in a day's ride from Robbinsville... Heck, I'll see about catching up with ya- with 7 hogs and 1 ricer, you'll have to do the "jam, park, wait" routine... And- AVOID THE DRAGON unless it's EARLY or LATE, especially on the weekends- too many meats, lots of po-po- what I call "multiplication of variables"... Holler! |

Also- the best highway to head north/south to/from T.P. is Highway 360- otherwise you'll be bored to tears taking 411 through Madisonville. 360 is one of my favorite rides now... Smoky Mountain will have some good biker road maps for sale, also I've got two good buddies selling gear just up the road at Dual Sport Touring, they'll have all kinds of stuff and a fair bit cheaper than the HD shop... I find it funny you call your friend a squid and are planning a trip with them. Personally I would LOVE to hear a RT3 in person. Just dont know if I can make it up there with school and fathers day. I'd like to though |

My buddy, the squid, will be wearing a $50 helmet (cuz itz the laaah) shorts and sneakers, two up with his girl on the back in flip flops with beat tires and brakes, tore up chain. He just scares me. I won't be riding near him much because of his skills...or lack there of. I appreciate the tips, keep them coming. |

Ride in front of him, so at least you won't run over the bodies... Show 'em this, too (it's the IMPROVED version, updated a year after my wreck):

Sknt- Gawd I hope you were joking about your ricer buddy... Got your PM, will be in touch shortly. I'd be happy to lead a ride maybe Friday- as always, RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE and keep the pace fun, but safe! TN roads are the best, but critters, gravel/sand wash from these recent storms, farmers, etc may all happen on the secondaries, and on the Cherohala, the tourists and looky-loo's will be there- not to mention the same "variables" as the Dragon gets- in some ways the Cherohala is more dangerous than the Dragon due to its higher speeds, remoteness and Armco barriers. Keep the rubber side down! |

Watchout when Squids says he is 'leading' a ride, it is more like 'see ya in a few hours'... ha ha ha... wish I could stop by, but time to be a responsible adult for a few weeks. |

Be and Adult? Whatever... Good to talk to you 86. Will call you on Saturday before we get in the area. We are leaving at 0300 on Saturday morning and if I remember correctly it took 12-13 hrs last trip with a few stops and breaks. We are planning on going to the concert you mentioned on at Smokey Mountain HD Saturday. Other than that open to any and all suggestions for eats and rides. |

Bridal Veil Falls is open under the falls. We just went through there today. Heading for Maryville Friday, then toward Chicago. |

OK- one more suggestion: As youn's are riding in that day from Robbinsville NC to see a great show at the Shed, I must recommend spending a little $$$ to "rack and stack 'em" just up the road at a motel that nite... Will holler shortly... |

Thanks Brad for showing me around. Let me just say that now I understand why he chose the screen name 86129squids. He is super fast and knows these roads like the back of hand. Will post pics once the trip is done. |

Were the Spyders still hanging around? On Friday we talked to an owner who was praising the stability and handling of the Spyders. We stopped and watched the world go by for a while and got to see a Spyder under-steer right over the double yellow and another go up on two wheels only to go over the double yellow after correcting to regain control. I would still blame the operators more than the vehicle, but these things seem to attract riders who just aren't that skilled. |
