I upgraded early to the Droid X about a month after it came out last fall. Love it. Upgraded to the BH6X battery and I get reliable life for at least 15 hours under heavy use. I see all the cool phones coming out, but as long as Verizon/Motorola keep pushing out updates (Gingerbread?) it's like getting a new phone every couple of months. I just upgraded the software to Android 2.3.3 and it's like a new beast. |

I tried the stood incredible a few weeks ago but hated all the Verizon proprietary software bundled with it that I could not uninstall. It pissed me off that half those programs run in the background. While I dislike apple, I got an iPhone because it is the ONLY phone Verizon sells that does not come with any "crapware" preinstalled. |

Bart - I, too, hate that Twitter is installed on my phone, I've never used it and refuse to do so. Sucks it takes up space on the phone. |

Two new tegra 2 dual core processor smartphones for verizon. LG Revolution 4G LTE is already released. Droid Bionic which should be released in the near future. Due to the dual core tegra 2 both should have excellent battery life from what I have read. |

Another reason I like iPhone is for its American roots. I guess you could say the same in part for the google OS devices. |

The majority of our phones come from the same factory in China. Apple, Motorola, and some others are designed in America. |

Are you saying that they are assembled in final condition in China? |

Yes, in fact back when the 4 came out, people were getting tracking numbers for their phones and they were getting shipped directly from the factory in China. |

I was one of them. It was fun to watch it's journey half way around the world in just a few days. |

Yes in fact one of Apple's major manufacturers in China is Foxconn. Deplorable working conditions. They had so many suicides guess what they did? Improve conditions.... No. They installed nets to catch the workers trying to leap to their deaths. Guess a dead worker is a non-productive worker right?

As much as I want to rag on Apple about that, Foxconn is just the vendor. Dell, HP, and a billion other companies use their products too. |

While we're on the subject, would it be possible to use an unlocked Iphone on Verizon? I'm due for an upgrade in December and all the cool toys are $450+ |

Only if the unlocked iPhone has a CDMA radio, which only the Verizon one does. |

I have a Thunderbolt and like it alright I guess. I do wish I would have gotten an iPhone 4 though. Better battery life, better vibrate ring, sharper screen, better reception (my brother can walk around in our metal building shop talking on his phone), smaller and better physical construction. |

I thought you could remove any program off you phone if you didn't want it on there. I can kill any programs that are running on my Droid. |

cyclon depends on the hardware and what 'flavor' of android they installed ie motorola and motoblur... basically my cliq could be rooted but.... you couldn't install your own version of droid os because the hardware was looking for the motoblur and wouldn't move on until it found it. i have since moved on to a G2 and rid myself of that problem |

Cyclone, as I stated earlier, Twitter is on my phone from the factory and there is no option to uninstall it. It never runs, but still, I'd rather not have it on my list of apps |

Krassh, That is astounding. I'd not ever heard of it until now. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/02/ff_joelinchi na/
quote:The body of a 19-year-old worker named Ma Xiangqian was found in front of his high-rise dormitory at 4:30 a.m. Police investigators concluded that he had leapt from a high floor, and they ruled it a suicide. His family, including his 22-year-old sister who worked at the same company, Foxconn Technology, said he hated the job he had held only since November — an 11-hour overnight shift, seven nights a week, forging plastic and metal into electronics parts amid fumes and dust. Or at least that was Mr. Ma’s job until, after a run-in with his supervisor, he was demoted in December to cleaning toilets. Mr. Ma’s pay stub shows that he worked 286 hours in the month before he died, including 112 hours of overtime, about three times the legal limit. For all of that, even with extra pay for overtime, he earned the equivalent of $1 an hour.

whoa, thats pretty wild, a buck an hour. As for the overtime, I find it odd they have a legal limit on overtime, we dont have that here, 112 hours overtime equates to 28 hours per week, I know some people that do that or more each week |
