Well well, my time in New Zealand is drawing to a close.
Co-pilot applied for a job just down the road and they offered her a more senior one in Queensland. Multinational company. We've travelled far on her career and this time the road leads home. To Brisbane in fact.
I'll still work for Kiwirider remotely and will probably end up going to more press events - they all happen in Aus anyway - and I'll be unleashing 'Big Dave' on the Australian Media as well - I'm already in a few of the mags there now.
House is on the market, Buell is up for sale - it's too much trouble to take it home. Throwing tons of stuff out and giving kit away.
Weird thing - changing countries.
I've ridden most of NZ and wrung every drop out of these magnificent Islands. It's time - and I think in the next little while Australia will be a good place to be.
I'd be in danger of sounding like Baz Luhrman if I said that 'every motorcyclist should live in New Zealand once'. It's even better if you can manage to Pwn the local bike industry while you are here - times which I'll long treasure.
Lemonchili and the Vampress has told me first hand that Brisbane (or Bris-Vegas, as they call it - a moniker I never really understood) is nice a nice place to be.
It's always good to uproot a bit every now and then.
Sounds like you are excited to be moving! Too bad you cannot tote the Uly, but hey, they made a lot of them! You can probably pick one up on the cheap at a HD dealer near your new home.(have they been notified of the closing of Buell yet?) Don't let them double stroke you for tariffs and shipping and such, the factory really did close!
Dave, will the rag send you over here to snap photos and scribble for Bonneville while the Kiwis and Aussies are here in August & September? And give you enough sunscreen to cover Dry Lakes Racers Australia at Lake Gaidner next Aussi summer?
Dave: Best of luck with the move. To bad about Buell being sold. Will you still be able to get test bikes now that you are remote? I sadly know very little of either country. I am willing to learn though
Thanks - yeah - I should still get to cover events for Kiwi Rider and am hopeful of doing more freelance work in the Aussie mags - but then I might get there and get a job....hang on....what am I saying!!!!!!!
Thanks. Yeah - mountain would be nice, but this is handy to work for her. I haven't seen it other than online either. Co-pilot is in situ and made the offer. The tech is that good these days I've satisfied all my enquiries and explored the area thoroughly from Auckland.
Our furniture isn't that nice either. No doubt there is an IKEA handy.
