Just trying to get a concencus of what you guys think. I don't necessarily need either, but since my iPhone 4 got stolen, I got the greenlight to replace it with something Apple (either another iPhone 4, which I'd have to find from an individual at MUCH less cost than an AT&T replacement, a used iPad (most likely 32GB wifi model, or an older iMac (I have a source that refurbishes them and sells them $275-up, all of them fairly new systems). Right now I'm leaning toward the iPad, especially since a purchase of an iPhone 4 fell through on me yesterday, but I'm not sure. I also rebuild/modify iPods and iPhones and have lots of older models that I can rebuild and use for pennies, including an iPhone 3G for my phone and a 4th gen iPod touch (only 8GB though). Given the background, what do you think? I'm limited to about $400, and whatever I get will be Apple related. |

You should be able to get 2 iPhone 3Gs for $400. I just sold two on ebay for about $190 each. I really like the iPad, I'd love to have one in addition to my iPhone and my MacBook, but the bottom line is they all serve different purposes and I couldn't replace one with the other. What exactly do you need this device to do for you? I'm assuming you already have another phone. If you don't need either, as you say, I'd think the iPad would be the more "fun" option. |

I get 3G iPhones all day for about $20/ea. 3GS iPhones are a little harder for me to come by, but not once the 5 comes out. I buy a lot of broken phones and rebuild them, too. Anyway I don't really need another phone as I have a 3G (though it's painfully slow), and I have the 4th gen iPod touch that I can move a lot of gaming, surfing, and music usage to. I do not have my own comp, but I have access to 3 that I can use whenever I want (1 laptop, 1 Macbook, and a PC desktop). It would be nice to have my own comp, but not a necessity. The iPad is surely not a necessity, but I would like to have one to watch movies on while I'm on the treadmill at the gym down the street (for them calorie-burning nights ). I guess it doesn't really matter; eventually I plan to get both of them. Just debating on which one to get first. |

I never play games on a Comp (I don't even own a TV or gaming console, though I have each of those on free loan to me in my room to watch movies, and I only do that when the girlfriend is over), but I play some once in a while on my iPhone (or at least when I had the iPhone 4. I also do a lot of software mods with Jailbreaking to play around with different looks and tweaks, which is another reason I was thinking of an iPad. Whichever I get will be primarily for music and web surfing. |
