Went into Cycle Gear the other day looking for a new m/c jacket. The one that seemed to fit me the best was the Tour Master Intake Series 2. I'll have to order from the website since the only large they had was black. I want white for the heat and visibility. http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=& item=HEL_8767-0205-03_G Does anyone have any experience with this jacket? The reviews look good but I'd prefer something from the collective wisdom. |

I have it in black. It's not hot at all when moving and those areas of grey are highly reflective at night. Just an FYI |

Oh as for the rest. It's got great bang for your buck. It's comfortable it's two liners work well but i rarly use the warmth one when it's cold I just layer up. The rain layer works for the most part with the exception of around the neck which gets quite we at times. The rest of me is dry however. All in all it works well for me in Chicago's wildly unstable climate. |

My main concern is dealing with the heat. We've already had temps in the low 90's for the last three weeks so dealing with heat it the over riding issue. I avoid riding in the rain as best I can. I hate riding in the rain! |

Cortech GX-AIR here. Black with reflective piping and has the adjustable armor. TourMaster is the company that owns Cortech. More sportbike type gear than TourMaster has. Two liners, one rain, the other quilted for warmth. Both out at this time. Easy to install, remove those liners. Even in high nineties heat, you'll be comfortable when you are moving. And it will keep you warm down to 19 degrees F as I've experienced. Well made too. (Message edited by two_seasons on June 06, 2011) |

A buddy of mine has that tour master and really likes it. The back protection is barely there, so keep that in mind. |

I just picked up an Intake Series 2 about 3 weeks ago as a new summer jacket. I got the Hi-Vis yellow. (I'm in the military and this thing fits the bill as far as reflective/outer garment requirements) My wife says I look like a high-lighter, but I don't care if it helps the cagers see me. I just hope they don't go into "target fixation" mode while looking at me. It takes a few minutes to put in or take out the liners, but not really anymore difficult than other jackets. It flows really good with the liners out and the rain liner works well. I haven't used the insulated liner yet. If there is one thing I wished it had, it would be a pocket on the chest. (where I like to keep the garage door opener in my other jackets). It's not a bad jacket though and I think it will suit my needs well. |

Buddy of mine went down in a similar jacket - did it's job mostly, minus a part which melted (30-35mph lowside) - sticking to his skin... ouch. |

Sl33py, Ouch!!! That doesn't sound like any fun. Still a lot better than going down without anything. I went down on a Blast in Dec of 2007. Doing about 35 in construction area. Gravel all over the lane shift and the bike just went out from underneath me. Tore my right knee miniscus and scrapped up the back of my left hand (no gloves). The jacket did it's job and protected my torso very well. Made me a believer. Since I've been riding the XT, I've been pushing my luck and riding with only a helmet, gloves and boots. Figure I've pushed things as far as I should. That's why I've been shopping for the last few weeks. The Tour Master seems to be the best compromise between cost, features and protection. Thanks for all the input everyone. Unless someone has a good reason, I'll pull the pin tonight on a white one. Good visibility and white might be a bit more cool in the Florida heat. |

Good choice! I also have the intake ll! Great jacket, lots of pockets and like mentioned has liners for diff temps! I have the black and silver one and when moving it is tolerable in 90 degree temps! Tested that out this past weekend although when you stop make sure to shed it off! The reflective properties are good as well! My wife said that the little triangle reflector on the back was blinding her as she was a passenger this last weekend! Good luck on your purchase and ride safe! |
