Is everyone burnt out on this? Hard to believe when i started this it was hard to get the next challenge. I's see the challenge and leave asap only to see 2 pics beat me to it. Now it takes 4 days to get one pic, and a win. Bored? Lazy? Guess it's time for backfire board? |

I'm not, just live too far from any sort of amusement park. I am leaving on a trip this afternoon and there is a park on my way. I'll try and get a pic. Unless someone else beats me. |

Ugh. Just finished putting almost 1100 miles on the XT in the past 2 days. I rode right past an amusement park at one point but didn't know that was the current challenge. Guess I need to pay more attention to this thread.. |

Oops! forgot. Even rode by it twice. To be fair it was raining the first time and I was soaked to the bone, frozen, and getting blown off the damn road. I guess it's up to someone else to get this one, I'm way too far from any coasters. |

There is a go-cart track and slingshot thing at the Daytona Boardwalk. would something like that suffice? |

I am a sailplane pilot and I think everyone should take a trip to their local Glider port operation. If your into photography sailplanes also make a great subject. Your mission: Find a place where they fly gliders (full-sized with humans on board) and take a photo of your bike next to a sailplane or a row of sailplane trailers if you arrive when they are not in operation. List the name of the glider operation you visit. To learn about Soaring and to find a list of places in the USA visit www.ssa.org and click on the About Soaring -> Where to fly tab. You may think about taking an introductory ride, you might like it. P.S. I use the term glider and sailplane to mean the same. It's a airplane with no engine. Of course someone can do this. I provided a map of where to go. Most of these airports are a nice ride out to the country but not too far from population centers or nobody would be able to go fly. The weekend is almost upon us. Go forth and conquer this task |

I know where they fly them locally, might be able to ride by there Friday, if it's not still raining like it has been. IF not, I'll have the old bike out on Saturday for sure, got to go get it inspected and registered. Will make a cool picture when we get this challenge done. Nicely done pic above there Jim. |

@Littlebuggles: your profiles says your are in Utah. I started my flying lessons when I lived in Utah. Was flying out of a small mountain airport called Mt. Green in Morgan Valley East of Ogden. I sure wish I had my Buell when I lived there. I miss the mountains and the snow. |

Rode out to Jean, NV at lunch today and got as close as I could to the Las Vegas Valley Soaring Assoc. gliders. That was a great lunch ride. The last picture has a jail in it and since I build jails for a living the new challenge is... Let's see your bike at a jail/prison/detention center of some sort |

Here's the backside of the county lock up. It's much more intimidating than the modern front door. I think they should haul all the inmate in thru this door... Anyway, if that passes muster, in honor of my daughter turning 16 and getting her learner's permit, the next challenge is your bike in front of a driver's license center test course. Bonus points, but not required, if you get someone taking their driver's test in the background. |

There's a couple great pictures. That jail photo is a lot better than the local county jails I could take here. |

I don't think there is a driver's license center test course here... but there is a MSF course about 30 min from here i could get! I will try, if the rain holds off this week... Really sick of this weather this year! |

I'm riding to work tonight, will make the side trip to get a pic in the morning. I remember when I could ride, just for the fun of it. It's nice out right now, but I need a nap. Doesn't seem like I've got the time or energy for scenic riding these days. Sheesh, this post makes me feel old!

Yeah, we either take a Drivers Ed class in high school, or go to BMV. Either way, an instructor rides along on the city streets and grades your "real world" driving! |

Missouri uses the ride-along process as well. Attempt #1 - learn that spinning tires is instant failure Attempt #2 - pass with ease |

No test courses used in MN or ND either. Maybe this needs to be changed to an MSF course. Are there private driving schools with courses? I have heard of these in larger cities. Good luck! |

Oh ok. Guess we do things differently in PA. Change in challenge then. Since it's Memorial Day weekend. Your bike in front of a VFW post with flags out or at our local cemetery the Boy Scouts put smaller American flags on all the tombstones of the war vets. |

Not really a course but there is a student and DMV officer in that small silver car behind the red car and they are testing for parallel parking between two plastic poles. This is the same place I took my driver test at when I returned to Texas. Also same building I took my MC written test.
I'm going to have to read up on what the American Legion is about. Similar to VFW?
Ok, here is the Wiki link to explain the American Legion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Legion (Message edited by jim2 on May 29, 2011) |
