I hope trailing guy turned in the tape. The passing bike did cross the double yellow, so might get a minor ticket, but this cat in the truck was out of control. Attempted manslaughter, reckless endangerment at least.
Back in the day, I used to race bicycles. On more than one training ride I had Cletus and Roscoe types throw bottles at me, try to run me into the ditch and other fun stuff (and I always rode to the far right, so it wasn't because I was blocking traffic).
Remember, half the population is below average....BTW, the trail guy had some stones walking up to the truck - I was thinking someone is about to get shot....
Personally, I would have just let the guy go, blown past him, or turned off.
I don't need that kind of aggro.
Yes he was an arse, but trailing him is only going to wind him up more.
The world is full of imbecile drivers, I see it every day, if I got that wound up over other people's stupid & reckless driving, I'd be a burnt out nervous wreck.
That wasn't just stupid and reckless, it was intentional and potentially lethal. There needs to be consequences to this type of behavior or it will just continue until he does kill someone. I really hope this was prosecuted.
The trailing rider was also in a situation where there is no way I would have tried to pass the truck with the way he was driving. Stopping or turning off would have separated him from his riding partner, which I would not have wanted to do with that idiot in the truck still following the lead motorcyclist. I probably would have done just what he did. But, that is just me. Sometimes I do dumb things.
Rumor has it he was arrested for reckless driving, DUI, and reckless endangerment. The DA is using this video to try and convict him of attempted manslaughter. If convicted of all charges he faces 24 years.
Tough call on how to react to that but I am with Dynasport on this: You never leave your friend. I'm not sure that I would have confronted the truck driver though. Seems like a good way to get shot IMO. I would have made the call to report him. The truck driver deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Not so much British reserve as the fact that I am over 50 & much smarter than I was 25 years ago! I've never had anything like that happen to me but if it did when I was young & dumb I believe I would have attempted to rip the guys head off & to hell with the legal consequences.
The cycle in front should not have passed over the double yellow! That single stupid act set this whole problem in motion. Yes it sucks to be stuck behind a slow moving vehicle, but that is the law. What the guy in the pickup did was certainly uncalled for and he should face several counts of various offenses but the motorcycle is certainly also not without fault in this case.
If it were me I'd be willing to take the hit on speeding and illegal pass if they were to throw the book at the truck driver. He started crossing the lines and speeding trying to catch the bike(s) that passed. From the point of view of the guy filming I was worried that if the leading bike stopped or slowed down that the truck would try to run over him.
If you have a problem with speeding bikes then call the cops with an accurate description and if possible a license number. If they're bad on a particular road then a few cops witting in the bushes will typically squash that problem.
That wasn't a redneck...that was an ass hat disquised as a redneck...a real redneck woulda went YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!! look at that motorsickle go...I gotta get me a motor like that in my quad!..
One jackass making us all look bad. That's several hours from me but I'm going to see what I can look into and find out what happened to him if anything. I have some LEO buddies and we obviously have his plates. That's beyond redneck, that's malicious.
I am a red neck and would have never have done that. But just like any group of people you have bad ones.I would have just tossed the ball bearings and give her the gas.If I can't loose a truck than I deserve to be run over
Per that thread the police never responded but "We are working with authorities to legally bring justice to this incident.I'm not going into any details sorry.I can tell you the pass is of no interest to them."
The part of the video that got me curious was the fact that the truck could keep up with the bikes. Granted, he was all over the road, but I know I wouldn't have a prayer of keeping up with a bike in my dad's F-150, especially with a quad in the back. So, either the bikes really weren't going all that fast, or the truck driver was doing an admirable job of keeping it on four wheels.

They redneck was hauling ass...but the bike was waiting for him at the stop sign, which I think was absolutely stupid. He's lucky he didn't end up like my buddy's brother-in-law...he got cut off and made his point with the offending driver...then the driver proceeded to knock him over with his vehicle and take off.

That was a hillbilly .. not a redneck. All the rednecks I've known are hard-working, good christian people. And easily mistaken by city folks for nasty hillbillies.

2 years? Looked like he wanted to block the biker, not run him off the road if he wanted to run him off the road why did he just pull up behind the biker and park? ... but whateva. 90 days in the can + fines and 6months loss of licence would have been just as good a punishment for swerving over the double lines.
