This is why, in a brake thread last month, I said the "ASSUMPTION" folks were making was that the 1190RS brakes had ANYTHING to do with the 1125R brakes. It's a horse . . . . er, PEGASUS . . of a different color. | ||

Hey Erik- tomorrow's my birthday, can I haz a present...? Great article! I remember the day, the awesome, glorious day I got to spend at Barber as dealer personnel, sitting through various seminars on the tech of the 1125R- plus the two 20 minute sessions before lunch, AND two 20 minute sessions after lunch riding the 1125R's on Barber's track... Easily one of my best days at "work" EVAAAAR... The new 1190RS looks to be unbelievable!! Now, if me or the GF wins the lottery or something... | ||

The article makes me Dayum proud to be a Buell owner, even if all my Buells have the lump motor!!!! From the sounds of it, Erik Buell Racing probably has a "homerun" awaiting when this beast does hit the track!!! Thinking out loud... If the 1190RS is better in street form than the current 1125RR that Geoff is riding, why is it such a big production to get one to the track?? No whinning, just wondering... You can not imagine the amount of paperwork, certifications and regulations that need to be satisfied. Hug an attorney. As I have said since about 1994. . . . "once you get the best motorcycle designed, get all the bugs worked out and are ready to produce . . you are 3% of the way to having a motorcycle company". Don't believe me? . . ask the folks who worked with John Britten and he . . . unlike Erik . . started out a multi-millionaire. Not diss to him or diminish his accomplishments . . . he was a genius. "Genius" . . in motorcycling . . . can get you to about 3%. Last night someone, and I think they showed their knowledge of the business, called Erik Buell a terrible marketer. If I'd felt inclined to mental mind mud wrestle with the light of cerebellum I'd have pointed out that Erik Buell sold more motorcycles in a single year than the sum total of the customizer and "came and wenters" have all together. Don't get me wrong . . . it's no billions and billions but 150,000 motorcycle in 7 continents ain't all shabby for an aging engineer who can barely walk. Really kinda cool stuff . . . . . a chance to get a glimpse of what has been caged up in that mind . . . held in check by committees, rules, regulations and petty corporate jealously . . . . the first time I heard someone tell me "if we let Buell do that . . it'd make us look behind the times" . . . I knew the marriage was ending . . it was just a matter of when. Lots more to tell you . . . | ||
