Gee, can't I disagree with the prez and it not have anything to do with what he looks like? This will be attack #1 from the left over the next 18 months. If you disagree with the prez, its because you are a racist. I disagree with the white half too. Everything this guy does is contrary to job growth, contrary to business growth, contrary to energy independence, contrary to overall national security of ours and our allies, contrary to reining in federal spending and controlling our colossal debt. But I can't disagree with ANY of that. The guy is either incredibly stupid, incredibly naive, or he is instituting an intentional assault on the good ol' USA. Yep the guy with multiple houses and millions of dollars sure knows the struggles I am going through... I don't want any president to "feel my pain". Economic policies should be based upon what's good for the country as a whole. Quit micro-managing everyone's life and let the chips fall where they may. I'm a big boy and can look out for myself. So should everyone else. There will be some rich people and some poor. It's not the president's job to redistribute wealth. Some will get cancer and others will not. A fair solution would be for everyone to get cancer. Some have a high IQ while others don't. Maybe we'll just dumb everything down and make it all idiot-proof. Some people get to live on the coast while others live in the desert. Perhaps the govt should dig a bunch of canals so we all have waterfront property. The constitution pretty much spells out the duties of the president. I'm happy if that's all he does. | ||

There's only a 2-3 degree pitch difference between a perfect landing and a smoking hole. And Clinton was Never PROVEN to be a rapist. he was also never charged. Trojan, what is your opinion of O'bama throwing the bust of Winston Churchill out of the White House as one of his first actions as POTUS? I would find that insulting. It was never reported here as a big deal at all. In fact the first I knew of it was readinghere. I think we realise that every new incumbent as head of any government will make changes and we don't get too upset if that includes getting rid of an old staue or two  I'm sure there are plenty of gifts from other countries either languishing in cupboards or 'disposed of' all the time in the White House and 10 Downing Street. Interesting news coverage this morning . . . the gist of the story was that Obama was disliked by many in the UK after dissing them on a couple of occasions. On the contrary. I cannot remember a more popular US President here in the UK since maybe Kennedy, and the Obamas are literally treated like royalty here in the UK. You would be hard pressed to find anyone with a bad word to say against him. As the first ever US President to be given the priviledge of speaking in Westminster Hall it kind of shows the esteem he is held in here paricularly within ruling circles. I saw his speech yesterday, and you have to admit that he is a very accomplished and errudite public speaker (unlike his predecessor!). | ||

Funny, the UK news seems to be the only "mainstream" companies willing to "dis" Obama. ( or tell the truth about him. ) Each new family at the White House does some remodeling and swapping around the artwork. Expected, though some things are also expected to stay as relics. Some of it's grand, like the "green room" often used by first ladies. Other is weird, like the china room full of dishes. Most gifts Presidents get they don't get to keep. It's the law. I did think the DVD bit for the PM was incompetent on the part of the office that picked it out. Barry had nothing to do with it, I bet. Much of State & Protocol seems to be idiotic this admin. You have to remember that the people who want to be President/PM/Leader are not exactly 'normal' when it comes to the ego department (and that goes for all leaders in most situations) so you have to expect some narcissistic gifts like that. I doubt if the Queen gave the ipod a second thought (or listened to the contect). It is probably either in a dusty store room at the Palace or has been passed down to a royal teenager and hence overwritten with Dizzy Rascal and Snoop Dog by now Funny, the UK news seems to be the only "mainstream" companies willing to "dis" Obama. ( or tell the truth about him. ) The UK news has always been pretty apolitical, so isn't shy about reporting 'warts and all' about any world leaders including our own. However the press here are mostly very enthusiastic about the Obama visit and I haven't seen very much negative press since he came to office. | ||

If the movie, "The Queens Speech", was made, then there would be some interesting words about how HRH feels about O'bama if she could let her hair down. He didn't attend the Royal Wedding which might be a clue. Your indifference about the Churchill snub says a lot about you. Housecleaning? Right. He didn't attend the Royal Wedding which might be a clue. He wasn't invited. Nothing to do with a snub or not being wanted though. Simply down to complicated lists and prioritising invites based on anciant etiquette. He isn't a crowned prince/king/queen or commonwealth head so didn't get an invite. Nor did the French or German presidents/prime ministers/chancellors. We get used to people being rude to Churchill over here so don't take these things to heart any more. There is a large statue of Winston outside the Parliament building and that gets defaced during every demonstration by the great unwashed/students etc. They just scrub it clean until the next time.
