In his defence....He'd gone to the Abbey straight from a tour of the picture gallery in Buckingham Palace, where he was shown a series of pre-US independence letters and journals written by King George III, so I'm surprised he got the date in the correct century and only 3 years out  His visit here has been very popular and I think he is probably more liked outside the US then inside at the moment. However even I cringed when he found an Irish ancestor (is that compulsory for US presidents these days?) and visited the village in Ireland. Wait till someone tells him there is a sizeable Jewish vote (and photo opportunity)to be had in the upcoming elections. He'll be in Jeruselem claiming ancestors from there too | ||

As I understand it the bust was an open ended "loan". Returning was done as a cleaning house operation. Combine that with BO's statement about France being our greatest ally and you have a pretty offensive pattern developing. | ||

This was completely intentional. You will see more and more of this "mistake" in the coming months. He and his handlers are trying to subconsciously (sp?) re-kindle the spark that was present when Obama and 2008 were thought of at the same time. Interesting news coverage this morning . . . the gist of the story was that Obama was disliked by many in the UK after dissing them on a couple of occasions. I enjoy hearing views from both sides of the pond. I think the guy is brilliant and intent on making this country pay for some perceived injustice on his part. He's doing a stellar job but I'm still having to adjust to the concept of me paying for the cellphones of the less fortunate. Call me stubborn. | ||

No this one stands out. He mentioned intentionally driving energy costs up with his energy plan before being elected in the midst of " the greatest economic crisis since the great depression".
